After Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe split up, I really hoped Reese would find someone who would be good to her and her two kids. I like her - have enjoyed a lot of her movies and she seems like a down to earth sort of person. When she began seeing Jake Gyllenhaal, they seemed like a match made in heaven - both not much into the limelight, but more into living a 'normal' life. Now, sadly, they might be breaking up....
The pair began dating almost 2 years ago and things seemed to be going well. However, there are reports of things not being quite so sunny. Gyllenhaal is currently working 19 hour days in Morocco and London on his next film project, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, and of course that means he's away from Reese and her two children.
A friend tells Star, "This is his first epic, and his mind is on his work. They talk on the phone and e-mail, but he's not 'there.' Reese is wondering if this is how it's going to be between them every time he's out of the country filming."
According to a source, things got touchy in the relationship and Reese flew to London for a rendezvous with Jake. The couple shacked up at The Dorchester earlier last month.
The source says, "They really needed to reconnect and remember why they were in a relationship in the first place. While there, they even went house hunting for a place because Jake will be using London as his home base until December. Reese doesn't like the formality of a hotel for her and her two kids."
The insider adds, hopefully the time away, "will get them back on the same page." Let's hope! Reese really deserves some happiness.
