Super celebrity and father Johnny Depp is reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in another "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie and the man doesn't come cheap. Previously, Tom Hanks held the record payout for a movie - he's being paid $58 million for the sequel to "The Da Vinci Code," "Angels and Demons." But step back in awe at Johnny's sequel paycheck.
Depp is getting $64 million for a 4th "Pirates" movie. Yeah, $64 MILLION. For a movie.
A source said, "It's a lot of swag but they just can't make another without Sparrow."
Since the first three "Pirates" movies made Disney almost $3 billion, I guess $64 million is just a drop in the bucket. But I don't think the sequels were nearly as good as the original. In fact, I think they kind of blew chunks. Still, money talks and bullshit walks, as they say.
And that much money can buy a lot of bullshit.
