I have a difficult time seeing Ricky Schroder as a dad, since I still remember him in "Silver Spoons" and "The Champ." (Look it up on IMDB.) But Ricky, man, does he ever have kids...four of them. There's Holden, 16, Luke, 15, Cambry, 11, and Faith, 7. Yeah, our little Ricky's all growed up.
Ricky, 38, recently talked about Holden's horrible dirt bike accident over a year ago. A truck hit Holden, causing his helmet to fly off and throwing him underneath the truck. His skull hit the truck's axle.
Ricky says about the phone call, alerting him to the accident, "It was the worst call."
When he and wife Andrea got to the hospital, they were shocked at how Holden looked. "He was bleeding out of his head and his ear," Andrea says. "He was shaking from the shock, and he was in pain. That was the worst for me, seeing my son suffering."
Two surgeries and a year of recovery later, Holden came through just fine. He's now entering his high school junior year, getting ready for his SATs.
Andrea says, "There's nothing harder that we've been through. You see how fragile life is." And she and Ricky don't forget it for a moment.
