Pregnant Bristol Palin: Levi Johnston Denies The Rumors

Posted by Sassy Smith

Levi Johnston, 18, who is the boyfriend of 17-year-old Bristol Palin and the father of her unborn baby, is shocked by all the rumors he's hearing.  In a rare interview, the teen who has seemingly been shoved into the spotlight, is speaking out.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Johnston says that the gossip that's out there is not true.  "We both love each other.  We both want to marry each other.  And that's what we are going to do."

Although it was suggested by the presidential campaign that Levi avoid media, he's decided to talk anyway.

As he checks his Blackberry, he says, "They're not telling me anything right now.  It's pretty chill."

Johnston said he was shocked by his girlfriend's pregnancy but he soon embraced impending fatherhood.  He's since quit high school (not a good choice IMO) and has taken a job on the North Slope oil fields as an apprentice electrician.

Some of the rumors Levi wants to clear up are his MySpace page, wedding plans and whether he was forced to campaign or not.

His MySpace page where he claimed, "I'm a f**** redneck," and "I don't want kids" - a joke.  He didn't create the page, his friends did years ago and he had nothing to do with it.

He and Bristol have dated since his freshman year in high school and had always planned to get married, pregnant or not.

"We were planning on getting married a long time ago with or without the kid.  That was the plan from the start."

Levi wouldn't divulge many wedding details, but he said they are planning one and it's next summer.  A cousin will probably be his best man and he's asked two friends from hockey, Ben Barber and Dane Wilson, to be groomsmen.

His pal Barber says that Levi wasn't pressured into marriage.  "If he thought it wasn't the right thing to do he probably wouldn't do it."

Levi claims he wasn't forced into campaigning with Bristol's mom Sarah Palin.  Bristol invited him and he agreed to go.  He said it was a whirlwind experience to be at the Republican National Convention.

"At first, I was nervous.  Then I was like, 'Whatever.'"

His friend Barber said Levi is a celebrity now, but Johnston disagrees.  "I'm still the same old boy.  I'm just a workin' man."

About becoming a first time father, Levi says, "We're up for it.  I'm excited to have my first kid.  It's going to be a lot of hard work but we can handle it."

And what about his political views?

He said he's no expert and when asked about Obama, he said, "I don't know anything about him.  He seems like a good guy.  I like him."

And of course he's voting for McCain and Palin, saying, "I just hope she wins.  She's my future mother-in-law.  She better win."

This interview does nothing to convince me this teenager is ready for fatherhood. I'm surprised the campaign wasn't able to muzzle him. If they want the family to be "off limits" then they should start with the chatty dad-to-be because he's not doing his future mother-in-law any favors.
