i dont believe for a second that ms obama always shops thrifty.  please.  she is extremely wealthy.  what is she saving the money for?  and so what if she doesnt? are you just looking for a reason to put down palin because you dont like her political party? or because you dont like her sex?  shes got to put her best foot forward.  i dont think theres anything wrong with her spending money on clothes.

and i cant believe barack obama bought clothes off the rack while he was campaigning.  this is unbelieveable.

We shouldn't be comparing Michelle's budget to Sarah's any more than we should compare Barrack's budget to the first dude's...Can any one get that Sarah was running for office, not the wife of the politician? Please try for a moment to remove your partisan feelings.  And J.Crew isn't exactly affordable for about 95% of the country. Thrifty, my ass.

just because she doesn't wear designer clothes everyday does not mean that Michelle doesn't know how to dress.  I don't wear designer clothes, but I have style and get compliments all the time.  Michelle is her own person and sets her own style, be it designer or J Crew, the lady is classy.  Bet a whole lot of women will be trying to look like Michelle in  a J Crew outfit.
