A source close to Jennifer Hudson says he previously warned her family about William "Flex" Balfour, the man who is currently being held in the slayings of Hudson's mother, Darnell; brother, Jason and 7-year-old nephew Julian.
According to reports, Balfour, who is the ex-husband of Hudson's sister Julia, got into a fight with Julia, Darnell and Jason around a month ago. The source says that shortly after the altercation, Balfour began threatening the family saying "he would kill Julia and mess up everyone in the house."
"Flex was crazy, but Jason never took him seriously," the source tells Us Magazine. "Jason always thought he would be safe, that he could protect himself."
A neighbor of the family, Angela Russell, also reveals earlier troubles in the household, saying Julia and Balfour had screaming matches, and had "been having problems, but I never expected anything like this."
A private memorial for Hudson's family is set for Monday.
