Is 10-year-old first daughter Malia Obama already setting fashion trends like her mom Michelle? The pretty daughter of President-elect Barack Obama, joined her dad on stage Tuesday evening, wearing a gorgeous red silk taffeta dress made by Biscotti Inc. The high-end kid's clothing line began receiving calls right away from retail buyers wanting to place orders for the same red dress!
Carrie Martin, spokeswoman for the Oakland, California label said, "Stores are going crazy all over it."
Bette Esposito, co-owner of Denim & Daisies in Boonton, N.J. said of Michelle Obama, "She has such a sense of style - I think people are going to try to emulate that whether it's on her children or herself."
Esposito plans to send emails to customers letting them know that they carry the same dress Malia wore and will display it in her shop window with a news clipping photo of the new First Family.
Bernadette Reiss, co-owner of Biscotti, has hopes of dressing both Malia and her sister, Sasha, for the presidential inauguration. She'll reach out and offer her assistance. "We would be so honored."
It's been many years since young children were in the white house, so I think it's an exciting time for people in all aspects of having a young First Family!
And for the record, little Sasha, 7, was just as adorable in her black dress! They really are a great-looking family.
