President-elect Barack Obama's wife Michelle will soon be making the White House her home and she will have to get used to all eyes on her. Michelle has a new name for herself - yes, she's the Commander-in-Chief's wife, but she's taken to calling herself Mom-in-Chief.
While it'll be an exciting chapter in her life, being the First Lady, Michelle Obama will have to get used to people judging her - everything from her choice of wardrobe, her body language, how she interacts with her husband and girls and programs she backs.
Michelle spoke with OK! and said she's ready to weather the storm as long as she still gets to do the mom stuff, like fixing her daughters' hair and tucking them in at night.
Michelle said, "We try to keep things really normal." She said that she loves a good bake sale. And as keeping "things normal," Michelle knows how to look good on a budget. She's recently admitted that she loves finding a good bargain and often wears fashions from the Gap and J. Crew. Don't get her wrong though, Michelle loves fashion and said, "it's fun to look pretty," and wishes she could put herself together as quickly as Barack. I think all women wish that!
Michelle recently said on The View, "Barack puts on his suit, tie and he's out the door. I'm getting my hair, makeup, the kids..."
Oh yes, for us women it's a much more complicated time getting ready especially for a special occasion.
Despite their new home being 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Michelle won't let her girls - Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7 - adopt any "diva" behavior. They will still adhere to the same strict routine they had before their dad won the election.
Sounds like Michelle Obama will make a great First Lady - even though her husband is President, she will keep it real for her family.
