Plaxico Burress of the New York Giants was shot at a nightclub last night.
He's okay, but he might be a tad bit embarrassed. Here's why- he shot himself. Yes, he shot himself. According to the New York Post, Burress shot himself in the leg "while fumbling with a gun just after midnight near the VIP entrance to the Latin Quarters club on Lexington Avenue.
"The round went through his right thigh, and left an injury that was
not life threatening. It was unknown how it would affect his career. Burress, 31, was released from the hospital at 2 p.m. today."
Burress has had a sometimes stellar and often troubled career thus far playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers before signing with the Giants in 2005.
Plaxico Burress has one son, Elijah, who will turn two in January. Elijah is named for Burress' NY Giant teammate Eli Manning.
While I'm very glad that Burress is okay I can't help but wonder, what the hell was he thinking? Why in the world was he carrying a firearm?
