Dakota Culkin, the 29-year-old sister of child actor Mccaulay Culkin, died on Wednesday from injuries she sustained after being hit by a car. Law enforcement sources say that Culkin was walking on Los Angeles' Westside on Tuesday when she stepped off a curb and was struck by the vehicle; she was taken to UCLA Medical Center where she died of her injuries yesterday afternoon.
A rep for Mccaulay says, "We can officially confirm that the victim is Dakota Culkin. This is a terrible tragic accident. We have no further comment at this time."
The case is under investigation by the LAPD but so far no arrests have been made.
The Culkin family has been in the spotlight ever since Mccaulay reached stardom at the young age of 10 when he starred in Home Alone. Parents Patricia and Kip have often been criticized for seeking the spotlight for several of their seven children; Mccaulay's siblings Kieran, Quinn and Rory are also actors.
Our thoughts are with the Culkin family after this terrible tragedy. I can only imagine what Patricia and Kip are going through right now; the pain of losing a child, no matter the age, is unimaginable.
