Wow! Michelle Duggar Gives Birth To 18th Baby!

Posted by Sassy Smith

Arkansas parents Michelle & Jim Bob Duggar have welcomed their 18th baby!  I guess they'll have to change the name of their TLC show to something other than Seventeen and Counting!

*Edited* with more information!

Baby Jordyn-Grace Makiya  arrived by Caesarean section Thursday, December 18 and weighed in at 7 pounds 3 ounces and was 20 inches long.  Jim Bob said Michelle started having contractions on Wednesday evening.  The baby was transverse thus the need for a C-section.

Chris Finnegan from the TLC network said that Michelle was tired (well heck yes!) but was resting comfortably.

Jim Bob said, "The ultimate Christmas gift from God.  She's just absolutely beautiful, like her mom and her sisters."  He added that they'd both love to have more.

The proud dad said, "Our whole family is excited about Jordyn’s addition to our family.  She’s just perfect in every way."

Monday's show will show the baby's delivery.   And they will be updating the show's title to reflect the new addition.

Jordyn joins: Josh 20, twins Jana and John-David, 18, Jill 17, Jessa, 16, Jinger, 14, Joseph, 13, Josiah, 12, Joy-Anna, 11, twins Jedidiah and Jeremiah, 9, Jason, 8, James, 7, Justin, 6, Jackson, 4, Johannah, 3 and Jennifer, 1

Congrats to all of the Duggars!

OK, I don't think I could remember all my kids names if I had more than, say, five.  Question - it says she delivered via c-section... I wonder how many babies were previously delivered via c or if this was the first one.  I've heard (from friends) that doctors don't advise more than four c-sections per mother over a lifetime due to uterine rupture, etc. issues.  When I first heard of the Duggars I'll admit my first thought was why hasn't her uterus just dropped out of her body by now.

Feel sorry for the kid who got saddled with the name Jedidiah. Although I supposed Jedi could be a cute nickname. However, I suspect this family may not be into Star Wars.

I like the "filed under: overtaxing the planet." Funny.

@huh- my husbands last name is Walker. I had already planned on the middle name Sky for my next baby, not even thinking about the last name. Might have been cute to have a little luke sky walker to resent us for the rest of our lives! I ended up picking Roman Blue ;)

I guess the next one will be named Jesus, thats why they all have names starting with "J" you know.  She has had three c-sections.  Looks like she will be able to safely have just one more.  Her OB said on one show that her uterine muscles were just worn out and the uterus no longer contracted adequately.  Scary.

That's a lot of kids. I don't know how great that is. What about the kids in the middle ? Do they get any attention ?

What's wrong with Jedidiah? Here in Israel LOTS of boys in religious families are named Jedidiah... it's a lovely biblical name, though of course it sounds foreign to a non-Hebrew-speaking ear.
