Vanna White: Glamorous Letter Turner by Day, Single Mom by Night
For more than 25 years now, Vanna White has held the most useless job on the planet: letter turner on “Wheel of Fortune.” And these days there’s not even any letter turning! Still, it’s hard to imagine “Wheel” without the glamorous Vanna White, a 51-year-old single mom. I watch “Wheel” most every weeknight, followed by “Jeopardy.”
While she’s looking fab in designer clothing on the show, Vanna says when it comes to her off time, she’s all about the comfort and can usually be found in jeans and a t-shirt.
“That is the real me,” she says.
Fortunately, the “Wheel” job is rarely very demanding upon her time because her most important job is being a mom to Nicholas, 14, and Giovanna, 11. A few years ago, Vanna caved and hired a nanny when the show started taping during the day and night.
Now, though, she’s going it alone…no nanny and no spouse. It’s her family that inspires her to give it all she’s got. “My grandmother stayed home. In her generation, this is what they did. I have that from her. Then I have the business sense from my mother. She was great with numbers and organization. I definitely have that, as well.”
Nicholas and Giovanna are Vanna’s kids with ex-husband George Santo Pietro, who she divorced 6 years ago.
