Pregnant Alyson Hannigan Stops Being Vegan & Eats Meat!

How I Met Your Mother star Alyson Hannigan has changed her eating habits since becoming pregnant - she's stopped being vegan and is a meat and cheese girl now.  And, she has a particular craving that she thinks may have been passed down to her from her mom when she was expecting Alyson!

The 34-year-old actress told Usmagazine.com, "I basically went from being a vegan to... now it's meat and cheese - and ginger ale!"

Yup, she's craving ginger ale.  "Ginger ale, I love.  Apparently, my mom craved ginger ale when she was pregnant with me!  Maybe it's a hereditary thing.  But, yeah, I didn't eat any meat or cheese before - now I have to."

And will her TV character Lily be pregnant on the show?  No!

She says, "It had been discussed whether or not they would write it in, and they had the opportunity to, but just working with babies for one week confirmed it's a good thing they're not writing it in.  Babies are hard to work with!"

Alyson isn't sure if she and her TV boyfriend Marshall, played by Jason Segal, will have kids at all.

"Jason Segal is not the best with little babies," said Hannigan.  "They seem to scream every time he comes near them.  But once they're, like, kids they love him.  So maybe if Lily could just pop out a 4-year-old, it would be OK.  But newborns?  Noooo... keep them away from Jason!"

Alyson and husband Alexis Denisof are due this spring.

Everyone is saying the same thing. And I agree. You don't need to eat meat "for your baby". It would actually be much healthier to eat tofu, tempeh, rice and beans, quinoa, seitan peas and other vegetarian forms of protein.

The real question is why did shego vegan in the first place???? Most vegans have a social or moral compass which lead them to stop eating animal products. I wish this interview asked her these questions. I stopped eating meat because it didn't feel right. I loved animals too much.

No matter what, I could NEVER go back to eating meat. No way.

Oh please! You do not have to stop being vegan for your baby. I was vegan for my entire pregnancy and I have a perfect gorgeous healthy baby. I did have to shop around for a OB because of it, but I managed just fine. Alyson just stopped because she wanted to, and that is fine for her.
