Celebrity Mom Can't Stand The Wii Fit?

Posted by trix

Do you have a Wii Fit? I do and I love it as do my kids, but there are those who think it's evil.

Can you guess who thinks it's evil?

It's none other than the very opinionated Elizabeth Hasselback. She feels that the Wii Fit is unnecessarily cruel to overweight children.

For those that who don't have a Wii Fit, there is a balance board that, when you stand on it tells you what your BMI is and then it adjusts your little character to what you look like. I use my Wii Fit to get into shape and my kids love to do the exercises along with me. It keeps track of what I've lost and the changes in my body.

Who wouldn't want to see what they look like? If kept in a positive light, overweight kids could use it as a tool track their progress towards a healthy body.

Elizabeth seems to be just a little sensitive towards all things. . .

Umm, this mom doesn't like the Wii Fit, or the Wii for her kids either.  Yes, I've used one before.  But as someone who's BMI says Morbidly Obese and who's doctor says "screw that, lose ten pounds, twenty max or you'll be TOO THIN"; I think that while the Wii Fit is a great tool for adults who need it, for kids who don't it can be an obsession.  And yes, I've heard a nine year old girl tell her grandmother proudly that her BMI was in the good range according to the Wii Fit. So yeah, I think it's a good thing to tell healthy young impressionable girls and boys to get out of the house and just say No Wii.
