Jessica Alba's Tight Abs Secret: A Girdle!

Posted by Sassy Smith

How did Jessica Alba get her body back in shape after giving birth to daughter Honor Marie?  Doing 400 crunches a day?  Nope.  Chomping on carrot sticks?  Nope.  Liposuction?  Nope.  Her secret?  She wore a girdle!  No kidding...

Alba tells the March issue of Elle:

Jessica's post-baby body secret:

"I wore a girdle.  Eight weeks after my girlfriend had her baby, you could see her six-pack.  She told me to put an elastic band around my waist - any kind of band or girdle works."

The 28-year-old actress said, "I didn't recover as fast as she did.  I don't have a six-pack - that's just not my body at all." (Ya, Jessica looks bad, very bad.  Ha).

New mom Jess says she did try working out to get in shape for a calendar shoot, but didn't stick with it.

"[The workouts] were horrible.  I cried.  And I haven't worked out since."  Oh, she's another Alessandra Ambrosio I guess!

Jessica tells Elle about her childbirth experience:

"Contractions aren't that bad.  If you've ever had bad cramps?  That's what they're like.  But that moment when they put the baby on your chest - that's deep.  It's a deep experience."

Alba says she doesn't like being away from Honor and often cries if she is:

"This is the first time I've been away from her.  It's been six days.  It sucks; it's the worst thing ever.  But we Skype, so I can see her on video.  The worst is when you can see her little chubby hands grab the screen, and I'm not there."

She adds, "That's a new thing - I never cried before.  Just being a mother is making me a big, weepy mess."

I can actually see that working.  I found that if I put a weight belt on tight and try to do crunch it actually works the abs twice as hard.  This is because you pushing you abs against the force of the belt and then doing the crunch.  So you are working the muscle isometrically and then you do the contraction.  No rest.

Wearing a girdle all day, because of the pressure you will be doing that isometric contraction.  When you move or get out of the car you will be contracting your abs muscles in different ways.  I can see how you will be working your abs most of the day.
