Why Did Sarah Palin Name Her Daughter Bristol?

Posted by Sassy Smith

Alaska Governor and former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has gone the 'unusual' baby name route when naming her children.  There's Track, 19, Bristol, 18, Willow, 13, Piper, 8 and Trig, 10 months, and while it might not be clear why she named them what she did, she has mentioned the reason for choosing "Bristol" for her oldest daughter.

Palin told Esquire magazine, that as a teen in high school, she wanted to be a sportscaster and when she learned where ESPN was located (Bristol, Conn.), was very disappointed.

It was too far from her, so, instead she chose to name her oldest daughter Bristol a few years later.  Which, isn't horrible - not a name I would choose personally, but hey it could be worse.   Sarah could have went with Smackover (Arkansas) or Clapper Gap (California), so in the grand scheme of things, Bristol's not all that bad.
