Dr Phil Takes On Octuplets Mom. Guess Who Wins?

Posted by HerBadMother

I suppose that it was inevitable that the whole Octuplets Mom controversy (is it just me, or is she starting to sound like one of the lesser villians from the Spiderman series, or an obscure Japanese superheroine?) would hit the Dr Phil show. I mean, has Dr Phil ever met an issue involving mothers and babies and dubious medical ethics and reality television that he could resist? No. Exactly.

So yesterday he invited on some medical professionals to weigh in on the whole issue (did she do a stupid thing? did her doctor do a stupid thing? who can we call stupid here?) and it was, you know, kind what you'd expect: two bioethicists and a PR representative walk into the Dr Phil Show, and...

Basically, nothing that we didn't expect. Ethically suspect, morally dubious, who's gonna pay for all this, blah blah blah. What I want to know is, when's Octo-Mom going to be on the show? And is she going to fight Spiderman? That's what I want to know.

What about those child actors, Toddlers and Tiaras and child models who support their parents? What ever happened to a woman being able to choose if she has a baby?

She wanted one more child, ended up having 8 because of some Invitro doctor on a baby binge! Get over it, they're here!

Do people want to see the children harmed? The mother harmed? Well that is exactly what will happen if the public keeps being so negative.

Plus since when was another womens reproductive choices the public's business? She gets food stamps...um so do millions of other Americans and illegal immigrants with American born children~!!! Big wopping deal!

I wonder if it will be the same if she had used medical to have 14 abortions. Would the public be outraged? Probably not. I know of someone who had 5. No news camera came to her house. Some people use abortion as a method of birth control.

The babies are here, just be supportive people. It's not like you've ever done anything that people did not like or agree with. She's not asking you to babysit, so just keep it to yourself.

I feel very sad for the 8 babies along with the 6 other children. One way to solve this problem of who's going to pay is hold the doctor financially responsible for all 8 children. He gave them the life.Doctors make good money. He's responsible for not being responsible. If it wasn't for the doctor, Nadya wouldn't have children.

I just find it sad that this Mother has chosen to be a guinea pig.  She knew what she was doing as did the Dr.  My sorrow goes out to the children, not the tax payers.

I wish the best for all concerned. The children come first.

People are outraged. I understand that.  Is it because she is getting welfare?  Or is it because the children could very possibly be impaired in some way?

Nope, not asking anyone to babysit, just asking everyone to financially support her and her shopping/personal grooming habits through her 14 kids!

I never had kids that I couldn't afford or expected other people to support. I also have never committed government aid (food stamps, SSI, student loan) fraud.

Keep it to ourselves?

Practice what you preach!

I have no problem supporting the children. But the mother should not be rewarded for giving birth to 8 children. Her Doctor should lose his liscense!!! To implant that many, when she already had 6 children is criminal!!! Of course, I want to know how she paid for the invitro? That is VERY expensive! This woman and her Dr. should have to answer for what they did. And she needs some HELP!

She is not going to qualify for food stamps or any other Gov. Assistance if she gets a few tens of thousands from donations this year.  So, let the people who want to take care of her donate, and she can live off of that.  Then make her leave our tax money alone. It's going to take Millions to support these kids.  I hope she gets just enough in donations to disqualify her for any of our tax $$.  CA can't even deliver State Refund checks cause they are so broke.

No, she's just using our TAX Dollars to pay for the babysiter and herself.

Sharon, get a clue.

14 kids became the public's business when the public has to PAY FOR THEM!

...and don't blame the Dr.  Suleman went to HIM--not the other way around.  She knew that when 8 embryo's were implanted that it was possible that she could have 8 more children.

How can you go and get yourself pregnant when you already have 6 children that you can't afford???

Suleman lives with her parents and has no job.  She gets $100,000 from a settlement and spends it ALL on invitro treatments.  She gives her parents NOTHING, and now THEY are losing their house.

Suleman is a piece of excrement!

I love how she says it was "God's will" for all these children to be born via IVF (science playing God)

....REALLY!?!?!?!?!?  I think it was God's will for her to NOT have children....hence the infertility....now before everyone screams WHAT!!  I have nothing against women who are reproductivly challenged using IVF in a responsible way and who support their families without the "resource" of food stamps or other government assistance....

oh and BTW most moms I know buy their makeup at Walgreens not Sephoria!!  PLEASE GIVE US A BREAK!!

Any woman who repeatedly pays the medical community to help her be artificially inseminated who has no income, has no home but lives with her mom is not thinking of the welfare of her children and what is best for them.  She has not put them first and her selfishness is costing her mother her home and her children a life time of public assistance and health issues. And the doctor who repeatedly put these children in harms way and societies wrath should also be accountable.  But these children are here now, and I hope they get the care that all children deserve. The children should not be punished for the poor choices of the mom.  However, there are many families in the US who have lost their homes, perhaps a parent and don't have enough to eat...that we should not go over board for this one and not for the others. I believe this woman needs psychological help as she has not accepted accountability or responsibility for her actions but expects her church, neighbors and tax payers to.  I would be curious to see how much it is costing us tax payers per person in the county to pay her hospital bill, continuing medical care, child services, welfare and child care.  And how much of the county services budget she is consuming. And if there is any chance of her being accountable for some repayment some time in the future? Or will she be having MORE children?

I don't see that the public should be paying for Suleman's children.  There are many women who cannot have even one child and would love just one.  I think rather than have the children living off the welfare of the country Suleman's should think of them first and allow them to be adopted by normal thoughtful parents who will give them all the love and care that they need.  Has anyone noticed her fingernails - how can you diaper a baby with nails that long.  Don't tell me she takes care of her children.  Suleman knew just what she was doing and decided to chance it and see if the country would rally round, get her a home take care of her children and probably give her a Nanny so that she can take care of herself in case she wants other children.  She is not a stupid woman who the doctor took advantage of, she is a smart cookie looking for an easy life at other people's expense.  I think she should also be examined by a psychiatrist to see if she is sound in any way possible before these children are given to her.  I hope to God the hospital does not allow that to happen and that social services will step in. Again, there are many people in this country, not just mother, but people in dire need of help but are trying to do it on their own in order to stay independent.  I don't want to see Suleman's face on TV any more as she makes me sick to my stomach.

Thank you

I think this women should be forced in giving her kids up for adoption. She is clearly needs metal help. She is a loser who depends on everyone elese to give her help. she should get off her lazy rearend and get a job. She thinks we owe her something for having those kids. We don't. She is the most dumbest stupidest women I ever met. The doctor that did the ivf should be in jail. Also the idoit who donated the sperm should be made to pay for all those brats.

If the Childrens' Welfare Dept. does their job, which most don't, no one will need to worry about how she is going to take care of the children for long.  In my experience as a foster and adoptive parent, most of those agencies just re-write rules to suit their own incapacity to do their job adequately.  As a military wife, I can also comment on four different states agengies.  Social workers complaints of being overworked are just not an adequate excuse for the negligence they practice.  Re-unification with birth parents is the goal, no matter what the cost might be.  Once a child is placed in foster care, a monthly stipend is rightly awarded to the foster parents they are placed with.  The funds don't begin to cover cost.  For many foster parents the hopes of adoption are only a dream, because once children are replaced with the birth parent the state no longer has to pay.  Money is the power player, not the "best interest of the child"(to use their terminology)   That is where our concern should lie.  When octomom fails, will the system do the right thing or bow to government agenda/budget?  Kids get victimized by the parent and then a second time by the very system we are lulled into believing is protecting them.  Don't be too decieved!

These little people, octomom, and the system put in place to monitor the mess need our prayers.  Maybe the fame they are experiencing will bring attention to a bigger issue, so the population is more aware of the plight of foster kids.  Octomom needs spiritual, emotional, physical and psychiatric assistance.  The system is overworked, underpaid and JADDED!!!  ...and her poor parents.  I can't imagine their anguish.

I loath the mother for her plans.  You don't go in and have 6 kids and then go back in and make another set, knowing you can't afford it (let alone having a house to be in).  I feel bad for her children though.  If anything Children Protection Services should investigate on this, and take the children away from her.
