I'm sure American Idol contestant Lil Rounds is tired of all the puns using her name, but it's pretty hard to resist. Does she not have the best name, totally ready-made for stardom? Just be glad I didn't go with my first title, 'Judges Leave Lil Rounds Hanging a-Round." Thanks, I'll be here all week!
If you watched last night's show you know that Rounds killed it - her rendition of Mary J. Blige's 'Be Without You' was awesome and even Simon called it "Brilliant." I'm a huge Mary J. fan and love that song, and I have to say Rounds absolutely did it justice.
And to top it off, Rounds has a story that America loves - at 23 she's a wife and mother of three young children. Her home was destroyed last year in a tornado, but she persevered to follow her AI dreams.
It will be interesting to see how Rounds juggles motherhood with her life in the spotlight. Having young kids is tough as it is, but the pressures of being a part of something as huge as AI will certainly make it more challenging. But Rounds seems pretty grounded, and hopefully she'll keep it all together. I wish I could think of another pun to finish this post, but lucky for everyone I'm all out.
