Real World: New Orleans former member Melissa Howard Beck and her Glassjaw guitarist husband Justin Beck, have welcomed their first child - a girl - on Friday, March 20th. Baby arrived a few days early!
Shalom Mazie Beck entered the world at 10:18 p.m. and weighed in at 6 lbs, 3 oz. and measured 18 inches long.
Said the new mom (whose original due date was March 27), "She is a kind and precious baby. We are insanely in love with her."
Melissa was in labor for quite some time and Twittered, "So 26 hours of labor, surviving only on ice-chips + 4 hrs of pushing + 1 epidura = STILL the SINGLE best thing that has ever happened to me."
Melissa, at 8 months pregnant, said, "I am in awe of her and she makes me nervous. And I love her in a way that I do not know love so it’s like I am somehow, not smart. It’s like I’m confused by my own inability to grasp what is really happening. Overwhelmed isn’t quite the word. Unconditional love isn’t even close. Those are all cliché things that people say because something has to be said."
