Gisele Bundchen graces the cover of the upcoming issue of Vanity Fair and inside she dishes on being a stepmom to her husband Tom Brady's son, John Edward. Gisele loves John and is thrilled he's in her life.
Although Gisele has never met Tom's ex Bridget Moynahan, she respects the fact that she's John's mom.
"When we are in LA, we have Johnny 50 percent of the time. He's a little angel - the sweetest, most cuddly, loving baby. I feel blessed to have him in my life... I understand that he has a mom, and I respect that. But to me, it's not like because somebody else delivered him, that's not my child - I feel it is, 100 percent."
Gisele and Tom found out Bridget was pregnant just weeks after they started dating.
"It was definitely a surprise for both of us. In the beginning, you're living this romantic fantasy; you're thinking this can't be true, it's so good! And then, whoops - wake-up call.
"[I]t was a very challenging situation. Obviously, in the beginning, it's not the ideal thing. You question at times – 'Should I stay here? Maybe you should work this out. But when people break up, it's for a reason."
Gisele said they figured it out together and she learned what a wonderful man Tom is.
It "was a blessing, because otherwise I don't think I would have known what he was made of, and he wouldn't have known what I was made of," she says, noting his integrity and "the way he was a good person through all the times. I was like, You have the heart in a good place! It made me feel more in love with him; it made me realize who he was."
Gisele and Tom's relationship has grown and strengthened:
"Our relationship has become so much stronger, and I think I wouldn't be as certain as I am today if it weren't for that."
The couple were married last month in an intimate ceremony. John Edward is 19-months-old.
