Madonna isn't the only American celebrity striking out in Malawi. It turns out that Phillies' pitcher Cole Hamels, the 2008 World Series MVP, and his wife Heidi Strobel of "Survivor" fame have also been trying to adopt there without any luck.
The African country requires two years of residency.
“There is no way we could live over there for two years,” said Cole. “It shouldn’t be so hard to try to give someone a better life. The government in that country, it’s shady.”
They should just ask Madonna if they can have some mail sent to her place. Maybe put the water bill in their name. It's a thought.
In the meantime the couple is filling out paperwork to adopt in Ethiopa.
