Amy Winehouse wants to adopt a child. She's been spending quite a bit of time in the Caribbean and thinks of herself as the "Angelina Jolie of St Lucia." I'm fairly certain officials in St Lucia do background checks before handing children over to prospective parents - Amy might have some explaining to do.
Winehouse, 25, according to friends, wants to make the Caribbean island her permanent home and would love to help a poor and underprivileged child.
A source said, "Amy is seriously thinking about adopting. But she is aware it's going to be incredibly difficult with her background."
Does the singer's decision to adopt have anything to do with her estranged husband Blake Fielder-Civil? News recently broke that Blake and a woman named Gilleen Morris hooked up in rehab and now she's pregnant with his baby.
Added the insider, "Amy's gutted about Blake becoming a dad and moving on so quickly. She has always wanted to be a mother. She loves St Lucia and would move there for good in order to adopt."
Amy's rep commented, saying, "Amy was talking about adopting in the context of looking after children on the island, perhaps through some kind of music and education-based project."
