Jon Gosselin, father on Jon & Kate Plus 8 reality TLC TV show, is once again the subject of cheating rumors. He was seen leaving Legends Lounge at 2 a.m. with a mystery woman (wife Kate is away on her book tour) and now admits being out at a bar with another woman showed "poor judgment." Oh, you think?
After THIS photo surfaced of Jon and a woman, who is not his wife, leaving a bar late at night, he issued a statement to Us Magazine, saying:
"I went to Legends to speak to the owner. A friend of mine wanted to check out my car, so I let her drive it to her car. Yes, I have female friends -- but that is all she is. I'm not going to end my friendships just because I'm on TV."
There's a bit more to the statement, with Jon adding, "However, being out... late at night showed poor judgment on my part. What makes me sick is that my careless behavior has put my family in this uncomfortable position. My family is the most important thing in my life and it kills me that these allegations have hurt them."
See, I'm guessing no one has a problem with Jon going out once in awhile, same as Kate being able to get out and have some "me" time. All parents deserve to still have a life beyond their children - but, you have to put your family first and not put yourself in situations that could possibly come back to bite you in the ass. Jon and Kate's kids are too young to be surfing the net and most likely aren't going to see the photo of daddy and mystery woman, but someday they might. Sure, it could be years from now, but it will make them ask questions - "Daddy, why were you in a car with that woman and it was in the middle of the night?" Will he have a good answer for them?
Jon and Kate have decided to return for a fifth season of their popular show, but the father of eight admits being in the public eye is difficult.
He said to EW, "The paparazzi thing and public eye, I don't like it at all. I don't mind taking fan pictures and stuff like that, but it's strange to me. I moved back here to be away from that all, we're in the middle of the country, and now they're here taking pictures, whatever. Everywhere."
The couple said they often see 200 cars parked on the country road outside of their home on any given day. Luckily, their house is back far enough from the road that no one is likely to get a shot of them.
Kate said during the interview, "I'm far back from the road and I'm safe. I feel like when I go through those gates, I'm good and it's pretty weird because we're still just like a normal family, we're functioning as a family and whatever, I always say, people say has this changed you? It has not changed me, it's changed people's perception of me."
Hopefully, Jon and Kate have made the right decision to continue filming their family life. I'm sure as their kids get older, they'll get their imput on whether or not to keep going.
Kate's book, Eight Little Faces: A Mom's Journey, reached No. 5 on the New York Times bestseller list after just one week on store shelves.
