Jon and Kate Gosselin's TLC show Jon & Kate Plus 8 was scheduled to begin season five on May 25. However, with recent events concerning Jon and allegations that he has been having an affair, producers are unsure how to proceed or if they should somehow incorporate what's happened.
After Jon was photographed with Deanna Hummel - a 23-year-old teacher - leaving a hotel bar at 2 a.m. all you-know-what broke loose. Jon denied any wrong-doing, other than admitting making a poor decision to go out so late at night with a woman who is not his wife - but he says they are just friends.
Kate has been promoting her book, Eight Little Faces, but took time out to address (sort of) the allegations concerning her husband. She made appearances on NBC's Today, CNN's Larry Ling and The Rachael Ray Show. She said her husband "exercised poor judgment."
The mom of eight said they will deal with what's happened privately, and put their focus on their children - a set of twins and sextuplets.
So, how will show execs proceed? They are left in a bit of an awkward position - do they ask the Gosselins to discuss what happened (more so than they already have), or ignore it?
There's not much doubt that recent events will be a ratings score for TLC but they also don't want to exploit the situation considering there are young children involved. Will this be the last season of Jon & Kate? Perhaps being in the public eye is becoming too much?
I've personally not watched the show on a regular basis - have seen a few minutes here and there - but I may just tune in on May 25 to see how Jon and Kate handle this.
