Jennifer Lopez, who welcomed her first children - twins Max and Emme - in February, had a scare when she found a lump on her newborn daughter's head.
Emme, now 15-months old had a lump on her head as an infant, and Jennifer feared there was something seriously wrong with her.
"We both got very nervous, very, very nervous, recalls Lopez, "and I just remember my heart sinking to my feet. I looked at Marc [Anthony] and I said, 'You know if anything happens, I'm not going to be OK, you know that right?'
"Luckily in the end, she turned out fine."
The situation gave Jennifer pause and made her realize how fortunate she is, and how others may not be.
"I started to wonder, what if I couldn't afford a doctor, or receive the medicines, the procedures?"
Well Jennifer, there are many families in that very position - who may require medical procedures for their babies/children and not able to afford it. Sad reality.
Jennifer has sinced teamed with CHLA to jointly form the Maribel Foundation - an organization that will assist in providing pediatric medical services to less fortunate families.
I'm glad her baby is OK, though!
