John Lennon was on a paternal mission the night he was fatally shot, this according to a new interview with Yoko Ono on BBC radio. He was returning from the studio and while Yoko wanted to grab some dinner, John was more concerned about getting home to see their son, Sean. In fact, his last words before encountering his killer were, "let's go home, because I want to see Sean before he goes to sleep."
I'm a Beatles guy. I'm still influenced by their work, especially that of Lennon, to this day. This story just adds to it. Losing Lennon was perhaps the biggest loss to music that the world has ever known, and yet, what it comes down to is even more tragic. A little boy lying awake, waiting for a father's kiss that will never come, and a man, dying in the street, thinking of his son.
