FOX News, the clever spinsters that they are, are trying to blame
the apathy of a generation on one Fred Rogers. Yes, Mr. Rogers. I
know, he's not a "celebrity parent," but he was a celebrity, and for
most of us that were born after 1968, he did play a somewhat paternal
role.
When I was a kid, things such as video games and too much
television were not hot points, and half an hour in front the boob tube
under the tutelage of Rogers was seldom frowned upon. The Raw Story
reports that FOX, however, believes ominously that "the signs of
narcissism in this society have been
growing for 25 years," and supports the theory with readers' letters
that blame parents, Dr. Spock and Mr. Rogers.
