Hugh Jackman Stays Sexy in Paris

Here's Hugh Jackman hitting Paris with the fam, fresh on the heels of his Sexiest Man Alive award. He was in town for the French premiere of his new movie, "Australia." Naturally, he brought along wife Deborra-Lee Furness and their little girl Ava.

Word on the street is that Hugh is about ready to sign on as magician Harry Houdini in a Broadway musical. That'll be a great return to the musical stage for him...he won a Tony Award in 2004 for his Broadway portrayal of Peter Allen in "The Boy From Oz."

"Australia," by the way, got a 53% on Rotten Tomatoes. See it at your own risk. Though it is surely better than the abysmal "Twilight," which I saw over the weekend. Wow, did that movie suck.

Hugh Jackman is famous for his portrayal as Wolverine on X-men and says that he took his inspiration for the character from Robert De Niro.

He said, "I had this image in my head of De Niro in that remake of Cape Fear. You were terrified of that character from the moment he took his shirt off - you knew he was this coiled spring that would rip your head off, no matter how nonchalant he acted.

"That's who Wolverine is."

Mmmm, Wolverine is my favorite.

Here a little tidbit to get your blood pumping. Turns out that People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive (I can't believe I cam in second again) has quite the kinky streak.

Hugh Jackman is usually featured in the pages of FameCrawler for his parenting prowess, but apparently his bedroom skills are equally impressive. The star recently admitted that he keeps the costumes from his movies to wear while having sex with his wife Deborra.

That's right, Wolverine (and his sharp, shirtless costume) is getting some.

Says Hugh, "It's easy with my wife. She loves the idea of me coming home in costume because it makes her feel like she's having an affair in a good way."

Don't get me wrong, I'm all about the role play, but I'm thinking if anyone on the planet doesn't need to fantasize about sleeping with other men it is Mrs. Hugh Jackman.

No word if the glitter from Oz made it home.

Surprisingly, I somehow missed out on People's Sexiest Man Alive award this year. Who got it? My archnemesis, Hugh Jackman. The Australian actor, looking scruffy and muscular, is starring in the new film "Australia" with Nicole Kidman. At 6'2" tall, Nicole says, "Women's jaws drop when Hugh walks into a room."

Deborra-Lee Furness, Hugh's wife of 12 years, says that her husband is a romantic who sings ballads for her and makes pancakes for Oscar, 8, and Ava, 3. When she learned of Hugh being the Sexiest Man Alive for 2008, she said, "I could've told them that years ago!" Then, jokingly, added, "Obviously, Brad wasn't available this year."

The couple met on an Australian TV show, Correlli. "She was my leading lady," said Hugh. "It was just undeniable. I started planning to propose to her at about 3 months. We are happy. Deb and my kids have been the best things that have ever happened to me, without a doubt."

And ladies, if you're wondering what he wears to bed, Hugh says, "I didn't wear anything until my daughter was born. We had a night nanny because I was working. I walked out stark naked, and she was reading a book. Now I like boxer briefs."

Obviously being over 40 or being a parent doesn't diminish one's sex appeal! Halle Berry, 42, was just named Sexiest Woman Alive and 45-year-old Johnny Depp has just been titled Sexiest Man Alive! Oh yeah baby!

A new poll by Cosmopolitan has named the Pirates actor Sexiest Man Alive and Depp beat out some hunks (and others who are over 40!) - George Clooney (who came in second), Brad Pitt, Justin Timberlake and Christian Bale, just to name a few.

Reese Witherspoon's man, Jake Gyllenhaal took third place. Other dads made the list too - Will Smith (8th), David Beckham and Pierce Brosnan, who by the way is 55!

Lizzi Hosking of Cosmopolitan said, "Both George Clooney and Johnny Depp just keep getting better with age."

Oh, I'd have to agree! Depp is dad to Lily Rose & Jack.

To Hell With The 'Sexy' Lists: Who's A Good Celebrity Mom?

I have an idea for a new list. It will be an antidote to all of the superficial and misogynistic lists that currently get all of the press, and it will make everyone feel better. Cookie Magazine or whomever could publish it, and we could all debate who should be on it: Loveliest Celebrity Moms Ever.

Christy Turlington, who is featured in this month's Cookie, would certainly have to be on it, because a) she is jaw-droppingly gorgeous in the most unaffected and unenhanced way, and b) she radiates good-heartedness and save-the-worldishness and makes me want to do yoga, maybe, if I could ever get off my ass. Also, she invented the world's best yoga-wear, which - quite apart from good for yoga, which I wouldn't know - is the very best garb for post-partum bodies and bodies that can't be bothered to iron stuff when they're exhausted from caring for babies.

I would also put Jennifer Garner on that list, because every picture ever taken of her and her daughter is the very image of motherly love and childish joy and also have you seen her dimples? (That I have a massive girl-crush on her and want her to join my Mommy-and-Me group has not biased me in any way on this issue.) Who else? Angelina, maybe, for adopting all of those children and very possibly saving their lives - recent controversies over the terms of those adoptions don't change the fact that she is making a home for children who would otherwise likely not have any - though she looks like she would cut you if you ever dared criticize her, which isn't a lovely characteristic, but I'll reserve judgment on that. Maggie Gyllenhaal, for breastfeeding publicly, and for being unremittingly cool. Jamie Lee Curtis, for remaining insistently consistent in promoting healthy body image for girls. Julia Roberts and Jodie Foster, for putting family life before their own celebrity. Salma Hayek, for being breathtaking (superficial, I know, but still.) Sarah Jessica Parker, because she proves that sexiness isn't the be-all and end-all of loveliness, in motherhood or in womanhood generally. I could on and on.

I would prefer that it not be a ranked list, because true loveliness defies ranking, but I'd understand if some sales-minded editor insisted upon such ranking. It would have to be a celebrity-specific list, otherwise it would be nearly infinite (the stock of motherly loveliness in the world being itself almost infinite), and - however sadly - not particularly newsworthy. Obviously, there'd be some notable exclusions - Britney, of course, and likely Posh (just not lovely, in my books. She snarls), among a great many others - which is not to say that those women are excluded from the possibility of loveliness as mothers, just that, at present time, they seem to have other, less-lovely concerns. There would, however, not be an 'Unlovely Moms' list, because unecessary meanness is just not lovely.

I'm not quite certain of how I'm defining 'lovely' here; I just think that I know it when I see it (and in any case, who knows how to define 'sexy' or 'hot', either? Or 'unsexy' for that matter?) And that it's a more precious commodity that 'sexiness' or 'hotness' or whatever. And that we should celebrate it. For a change.

Sorry Matt. I've taken another poll (of me and my libido) and Patrick Dempsey is definitely the Sexiest Man Alive. Even you have to admit he's pretty hot.

People has him as a runner-up, but I definitely think a recount is in order. Illegal campaign funds, a hanging chad - I say Dempsey was robbed. Oh well - at least David Beckham didn't win this one.

Next up: Bourne Hotness? According to People magazine, Matt Damon is the Sexiest Man Alive! I've always wondered how they came up with this title. Did they consider dead guys, too, and then decide that they weren't all that sexy? Were they worried some really hot guy from the 1800's would just keep winning the contest?

Damon, who is married to Luciana Bozan Barroso, said the honor came as a surprise. "You gave an aging suburban dad the ego boost of a lifetime. My 9-year-old stepdaughter now thinks I'm cool - well, cooler." The actor also revealed that pals George Clooney and Brad Pitt, who had each won the 'Sexiest' title twice, had campaigned for his crowning. So that's what guys do when they're not betting on fantasy football.
