John Edwards The Father Of Rielle Hunter's Baby?

John Edwards' former mistress Rielle Hunter - whose baby girl Frances, 14 months, is rumored to be the daughter of Edwards - is upset that he's denying paternity of her child. She wants John to submit to a DNA test to prove he is the dad!

According to sources, Hunter is working with an attorney to take legal action against Edwards. This all comes with the recent release of John's wife Elizabeth's new book Relilience, in which she talks of her battle with terminal cancer, her marriage and her husband's affair. Elizabeth isn't sure if John is the father of Frances, but she admits she could be. Although John finally admitted the affair to Elizabeth - he first lied that it was a one time thing - he has adamantly denied he's the dad.

An insider said, "Rielle - probably naively - now realizes she had held onto a false promise that if she continued to take part in the cover-up John had engineered, they'd be together in the future.

"She was willing to protect John for the sake of the child. She agreed to allow a crony of his to claim he was the baby's father, and she even kept the name of the father blank on the birth certificate.

"But now she can see there's never going to be a future with John - and she feels he's lied about his promise to keep Elizabeth from trashing her in the book," claimed the source.

"Rielle is so infuriated by his and Elizabeth's actions that she's throwing her loyalty to him out of the window!"

The source added, "Rielle wants the paternity of her daughter Frances finally established. It could ruin John for good because even after admitting the affair, he vehemently denied being the father!"

What a mess. I don't know how Elizabeth has been dealing with this - can you imagine battling cancer and your partner is cheating on you? Nothing like kicking a person when they're down. How sad for the Edwards' children, too.

And baby Frances didn't ask to be born into such a sordid situation. She has every right to know both of her parents - so if John Edwards is the father, then he needs to step up and take care of her. If you're going to sleep around and end up creating a child, then you have to take responsibility.

Elizabeth Edwards sat down with Oprah this week to tell the world her story, and snippets of the convo (set to air Thursday) are making their way out.

Apparently, Elizabeth came on the show to talk about her battle with terminal cancer, John Edwards' affair, and her upcoming memoirs Resilience -- but mostly John's affair and the messy, lingering aftermath. According to Elizabeth, John may very well be a baby daddy to Rielle Hunter's 1-year-old daughter.

"I've seen a picture of the baby. I have no idea. It doesn't look like my children but I don't have any idea."

When asked whether she still loved her husband, she replied: "You know, that's a complicated question"

If you remember the story, Hunter didn't list the father's name on her daughter's birth certificate, so it's not super clear whether she actually believes John is the father or not.

Still, with all of the rumors that Rielle got hush money from John's campaign and speculation that she and the baby are living in a secret home payed for by John to keep them from being overrun by reporters like me, it looks like he's the daddy.

I've said it before...never screw with David Letterman. He's joked before that every successful run for the White House goes through his studio and John McCain messed up a few weeks ago when he snubbed Letterman. Bad form, John. Canceling an appearance 90 minutes before the show taping is just bad form.

Sarah Palin has suddenly stopped wearing her wedding ring and started wearing a large bandage.

What goes on here?

Is the strain of it all getting to the Palin marriage? It would be understandable if that were the case. Between the kids, campaigning, and legal issues, they are fighting battles on many fronts and that can't leave much time for wine and roses. Maybe some Guns and Roses.

And then there is the bandage.

Polar bear attack? Was the wolf not quite dead yet? Paper cut from one of EVERY newspaper that she reads? Rope burn? Nelly fan?

Here's my theory, which is just a guess, and frankly not nearly as exciting as a moose bite: the disposal. This reeks of classic wedding ring in the garbage disposal. Nothing cuts a hand better than a dig through chicken bones and forgotten silverware.

But I'm not ruling out the moose thing.

Yeah, we're scratching OUR heads, too. John Edwards has been hired to speak at the University of Illinois in October. I can't imagine he's speaking on morality. In fact, I can't imagine anyone wanting to hear him speak at all, unless they're in it for the Train Wreck Effect. Edwards, 55 and father of three, will forever be famous for $400 haircuts and being a scumbag who cheats on his cancer-stricken wife. But get this...they're paying him $65,000 dollars!

I may not like the man, but I can't blame him for taking the money and running. After all, he's going to be hard-pressed to get paid doing anything else these days. You know you messed up bad when even the politicians are shunning you.

John Edwards has come forward, admitted and released a statement (although he still denies being the father of her baby girl), that he and Rielle Hunter, his former "campaign photographer," were having an affair while his wife Elizabeth was battling cancer. However, as horrible as that sounds, there's more. Hunter has reportedly come forward to give more details in the sorrid affair....

According to the National Enquirer, the day before Edwards gave his statement on ABC's Nightline, Hunter and daugther Frances, 6-months, were flown from the US (on a chartered Learjet, which was only $50,000 - paid by Edwards' friends) to St. Croix.

The Enquirer had "spies" track down Hunter and found her and baby at a luxury oceanfront home owned by trial lawyer Lee Rohn, who is a close friend to Edwards. A National Enquirer reporter approached Rohn, who gave a tense "No comment!" when asked about Rielle. Shortly after, Rielle was moved to a motel for a few days and then returned to Santa Barbara on August 17. And Rielle now has an off-duty police officer guarding her home.

And how does all of this get paid for? John Edwards' "network of loyal supporters." Also, according to sources, there are a team of six lawyers who've been involved in the coverup and are helping funnel payments to Hunter, who has no source of income at this time.

Rielle Hunter's lawyer had suggested that she ask Edwards to take a paternity test but she's so far refused - believing that he'll marry her after the death of his wife Elizabeth, who is battling cancer. OMG - they're waiting for Elizabeth to die??? John is, allegedly, still in contact with Rielle. Shameful!

A pal of Rielle's told The Enquirer that when Edwards met Rielle, "She wanted to pick him up. According to her, the chemistry was instant.

"They ended up sleeping together that night!"

After Rielle was hired to shoot behind-the scenes- video for the Presidential campaign, "A friend kidded her she was actually shooting 'between-the-sheets' videos!"

Ugh - this whole thing is so skeezy - any man who would have an affair with another woman when his wife is battling cancer, is a lowlife - presidential candiate (former) or not.

Elizabeth Edwards - you could (and deserve) do so much better!

It seems to me, that it's a long step down from presidential candidate to baby daddy, but I guess we'll never know.

We now know that John Edwards admitted to having an affair with Rielle Hunter in 2006 but he denies that he is the father of her 5 month old baby. He said on "Nightline" that he would be willing to take a paternity test to prove that he is not the father of her baby. What did Rielle say to that?

No way jose! Not those words exactly, but you get the point. She didn't actually say anything, her lawyer issued a statement for her saying, "Rielle is therefore making no statement now or in the future, furthermore, Rielle will not participate in DNA testing or any other invasion of her or her daughter's privacy now or in the future." So it's a statement of a non statement.

What, no test? Why not? Why doesn't she want him to take a test? Could it mean that she knows the it's not his baby, like he says?

Even his wife believes him and she knows that he's a cheater, she said, ""This was our private matter, and I frankly wanted it to be private because as painful as it was I did not want to have to play it out on a public stage as well, because of a recent string of hurtful and absurd lies in a tabloid publication, because of a picture falsely suggesting that John was spending time with a child it wrongly alleged he had fathered outside our marriage, our private matter could no longer be wholly private."

I guess there will only be one person who knows for sure.

Former presidential candidate and cheating husband, John Edwards has released a formal statement in regards to his affair with Rielle Hunter. He denies that he is the father of her child. Did you hear that? It was the sound of my eyes rolling....

He said:

"In 2006, I made a serious error in judgment and conducted myself in a way that was disloyal to my family and to my core beliefs. I recognized my mistake and I told my wife that I had a liaison with another woman, and I asked for her forgiveness. Although I was honest in every painful detail with my family, I did not tell the public. When a supermarket tabloid told a version of the story, I used the fact that the story contained many falsities to deny it. But being 99 percent honest is no longer enough.

I was and am ashamed of my conduct and choices, and I had hoped that it would never become public. With my family, I took responsibility for my actions in 2006 and today I take full responsibility publicly. But that misconduct took place for a short period in 2006. It ended then. I am and have been willing to take any test necessary to establish the fact that I am not the father of any baby, and I am truly hopeful that a test will be done so this fact can be definitively established. I only know that the apparent father has said publicly that he is the father of the baby. I also have not been engaged in any activity of any description that requested, agreed to or supported payments of any kind to the woman or to the apparent father of the baby.

It is inadequate to say to the people who believed in me that I am sorry, as it is inadequate to say to the people who love me that I am sorry. In the course of several campaigns, I started to believe that I was special and became increasingly egocentric and narcissistic. If you want to beat me up — feel free. You cannot beat me up more than I have already beaten up myself. I have been stripped bare and will now work with everything I have to help my family and others who need my help.

I have given a complete interview on this matter and having done so, will have nothing more to say."

John Edwards may have effectively ended any chance he had at being added to Barack Obama's ticket by admitting that the constant rumors surrounding him are true.

Kind of.

According to Cover Awards: John Edwards told ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff that “he did have an affair with 44-year old Rielle Hunter, but said that he did not love her.”

However, Edwards denies that Hunter's child is his. He has not taken a paternity test.

Edwards' wife Elizabeth is currently battling cancer, and we assume a broken heart.

<sarcasm>Nice going, John.</sarcasm>

Rumors have been swirling that former presidential candidate, John Edwards has a love child with Rielle Hunter - and now a photo has surfaced that is fueling fire to that rumor. It may just be the truth after all!

The pic from the National Enquirer is grainy but it does show Edwards holding baby Frances Quinn at the Beverly Hilton hotel in LA during a visit last month to Rielle.

An insider tells the gossip mag, "These photos are damning proof. He's been caught lying about his affair with Rielle [Hunter] and their love child for many months - and now the proof against him is piling up. His elaborate coverup is unraveling at the seams."

We're not sure if this is 100% true - but if it is, talk about gross. Edwards' wife Elizabeth has been fighting breast cancer since November of 2004 - dealing with chemo and radiotherapy, so nice of her husband to step out on her and make a child. And if it's true, then John needs to grow a pair and step up to the plate and deal with the situation and take care of his daughter.

Well, I don't know if they spent much time with Obama, but the two Boston couples spent more than my mortgage to attend a campaign dinner in Miami for the presidential hopeful.

I should throw a $1000 per plate dinner to help pay off my student loans. That would be awesome.

John Edwards, I'm guessing, might be in a bit of hot water. It seems the former senator and presidential candidate has been busy - busy cheating on his wife Elizabeth, fathering a love child with his mistress and busy paying her off.

Rielle Hunter is the alleged mistress of Edwards (and she's the former videographer of Edward's presidental campaign) and she's apparently been receiving $15,000 a month from him to keep her from discussing their relationship or their (alleged) child. According to The Enquirer, the money is being funneled to Hunter by a wealthy friend, who had ties with Edwards' campaign.

That's not all though! This man is also paying John's friend and former aide, Andrew Young, to take the heat and claim that he is the father of Hunter's child.

A source told The Enquirer, "A super-rich pal - who was closely involved with the campaign finances - is helping John. It's likely this man doesn't know all the dirty details of John's extramarital affair, but is acting out of loyalty and is not asking a lot of questions - only writing the checks."

As well, the Charlotte Observer is reporting that the 'love child' doesn't have a father listed on the birth certificate. The certificate indicates that Frances Quinn Hunter was born on February 27 to Rielle Hunter, in Santa Barbara, California, two months after John's aide, Andrew Young claimed to be the daddy.

When asked (by the Charlotte Observer), the attorney for Hunter said, "A lot of women do that."

And when it was pointed out that Rielle revealed the identity of the father two months prior, the lawyer said, "That's a personal matter between them."

Ah huh. Does something smell bad to you? That's what I thought.

I'm guessing this means that Edwards (if this is all true) doesn't spend time with his child? I suppose not, since he's covering it up.

John Edwards, thus far, has not made any public comments regarding these allegations.

Apparently Will Smith thought he had more time to ease into politics. Smith says that he has always wanted to be the first black president, but that "Barack Obama stole my idea. That's OK with me. Barack can go first and then I'll take my turn."

That's awfully nice of Smith to stand aside like that. I hope Obama sends him a fruit-basket.

I'd vote for Smith, especially if he told the terrorists that he was "going to get jiggy" with them. That would be awesome.
