Brooke Burke knows what it's like to be sleep deprived like the rest of us. She just looks better.

Brooke recently wrote in her blog:

We are finally settled in our home. Shaya just turned 3 months old, and I feel like I have just surfaced. I am so sorry that I have not blogged in months. Any of you who have already had your baby know where I am coming from! Anyway, Shaya’s naps are getting longer, and my nighttime sleep intervals have gone from 2 hours to 4, thank God! The other day I googled sleep deprivation and I had no idea how responsible my sleepless nights were for everything I had been feeling. It effects your memory, metabolism, and of course patience for everyone in your family. I am happy to say it does get better, so hang in there new moms.

Last month was pregnancy awareness month and I was asked to speak on a panel about the work/life balance. I was invited to speak to hundreds of other working moms about how I do it. I had to laugh to myself as I thought of what a metaphor the topic is. Balancing motherhood and a career is my most challenging thing. I have realized in my experience that there is no right or wrong way to rear your children, and I had a hard time giving advice on “how to do it”. I have learned a lot from other moms, but I focus most on figuring out what works best for my family. I know that everything is curable with love. I tried to encourage moms to do the best they can and give themselves a break on the days when it doesn’t seem good enough. I also have to admit that I am a different mom the fourth time around. I think that is because there is a lot less of me to devote to all of them after you do the math. I am also starting to go back to work and there is always the guilt when I have to spend all day away from my babies. Somehow, it all works out, even though there is no perfect way.

I just designed a new product for the store. I have been using it to work out and lose the rest of my belly inches. It’s like Tauts but made out of neoprene. It is called Baboosh Body Sport and it is to be worn while you exercise. The fabric will make your core area sweat like crazy!!!! Great news, it is for Dads too.

Interview: Nicole Kidman On Motherhood, Her Body & Tom Cruise

Scotland on Sunday held an interview with the now 41 year old actress, and it's an interesting read, to say the least.

On rumors that her weight is not healthy for her pregnancy:

Kidman said she has stuck to a rigorous training regime that includes sweating it out and doing yoga daily. "I'm so happy, I couldn't ask for anything – except bigger boobs," she joked. "I've wanted curves my whole life. I eat all the time but I don't change because of my physical make-up. I was even more scrawny as a kid."

On how motherhood has changed her:

"I am somebody who is attracted to dangerous things. It is something I have to fight in myself, especially now that I've got the kids. I'm a fanatical sport freak. I love being able to use my body in that way and used to do things like sky-diving rather than hiking which was definitely more sensible."

On how much she has always wanted a biological child (her two kids are adopted with Tom Cruise, as most people know):

"I would be very sad if I wasn't able to have a baby. I am very close to my own family and I want my kids to have an Australian identity as well as an American one.

"It's interesting, as an actor, to raise kids because you set up home wherever you're working, almost always in a transitional period. It's crazy when you're all togged up in a glamorous costume and you're fixing a snack for the kids in your trailer or helping them with their homework."

On her split from actor Tom Cruise:

"Divorce from Tom was hell but it made me grow up. After the divorce, I did many things that interested me, as I was single and had been through a period of my life when I wasn't able to move around as much and explore, so I was able to 'catch up'."

On finding love with Keith Urban:

"I think we were two lonely people, who managed to meet at a time when we could open ourselves to each other. We were a mixture of frightened and brave," she says.

"Since getting married, I've 'passed' on things, cleared my schedule. I do not want to be living my life away from the person I love. I think I've settled into enjoying my life. I'm happy and I'm content."

On the 'career' of acting:

"I flinch at the word 'career,' she says, "because acting is all about your emotions. I love what I do. It is not a job. I never think about taking a role in relation to who I am, to who Nicole is," she muses. "That would not be pure, artistically. I don't know whether that's my biggest strength or weakness.

"I adore this job but it certainly takes its toll," she continues. "I think that making a film is like a boxing match – you have to take the punches and you can easily fall. I plan to slowly dwindle away, bring the train to a halt, when the time comes. I am not sure when the resources are going to run out in terms of what I have to offer.

"The life I lead is a burn-out life," she says, rearranging legs that are too long for the sofa. "From cracked ribs (in Moulin Rouge) to freezing in Romania (Cold Mountain) and being hospitalised after a car chase went wrong (Invasion). You have to step away from it because you are required to give so much of yourself to do it well. I don't mind stepping away when I need to and going to ground. Or doing a comedy to re-stoke."

On being a celebrity and the fame that comes with it:

"I hate the interest in celebrities that comes with it. Being recognised is part of the territory. I was a kid who waited to see Abba. And I have been in that position. I remember also being taken to the set of The Year of Living Dangerously by a production designer friend of ours. I saw Mel Gibson from afar and I shrieked: 'He looked at me!' He has no recollection – I was about ten.

"I try to make contact and go over and shake someone's hand. I think it is important to remember where you are at, and where you come from, so you never get trapped in the world you work in. I have tried to not court celebrity.

"In New York I go around without an 'entourage'. I am always with my kids, walk quickly, with my hair pulled back, and I can make myself invisible. I do most things. I go to the cinema with my kids just like any other member of the public. We love all going away to have a bit of an adventure together, away from the bright lights.

"When I was single and bringing up my two older children I tended to take one day at a time. As a single parent, I think you do your best and hope it will be good enough. And you know something? I found that usually it is good enough."

On what her kids think or her job:

"As a kid I hated any sort of unconventional stuff because you want to conform. I was embarrassed by it. I was not one of those kids that wanted to stand out. I was 5ft 10in when I was 11 years old and had the awful nickname of 'Storky'. I was also white as a sheet in bronzed surfer paradise Australia.

"I didn't need any more humiliation, such as my feminist mother. But my kids seem incredibly willing and easy about it all. They don't seem to give a damn about what I do."

On her work as a Goodwill Ambassador with Unifem, a women's advocate organization:

"Obviously, I'm emotionally connected to this," Kidman says of her Unifem role. "I think it's very important. At the same time, I'm a mother. I have a child on the way… and a lot of it is realising the things that are wrong and what I can contribute to help my children have a better life, and to help other children around the world have a better life.

"I believe if people are given the information, most of them will say, 'I had no idea – what can I do to help?' Awareness is just the first step."

On her plans for the future:

"When I get older, I am going to veer in the direction of hedonism and live somewhere like Tuscany, surrounded by my grandchildren, and rest and dance and eat and drink and read and sit up over big home-cooked meals, talking late into the night in different languages. I want to age gracefully and naturally."

On aging (and how she keeps that youthful look):

"To be honest, I am completely natural," Kidman has said. "I have nothing in my face or anything. I wear sunscreen, and I don't smoke. I take care of myself. I'm proud to say that."

On rumors of her having plastic surgery:

(She claims to have only ever had laser eye treatment, as she was walking around legally blind.) "I don't judge those who have had treatments. Anybody can do anything to their bodies. I'm just lucky that I get to change my looks in every film and get paid to do so! I love being an actor – that is my commitment and my passion. But there are other things I want to do in life, so many that to list them all would be trivial," she says.

On her career plans:

"As an actor I think you suffer from burnout after a time because you give so much of yourself. I look at it as something that will finish in its own time. It wouldn't be, 'Oh, now I am suddenly going to quit.' It will just slowly just dwindle away…"

"I will make more films in Australia, like the new Baz (Moulin Rouge) Luhrmann-directed film called Australia which I made while Keith was away touring. It is set in the remote Northern Territory during the Japanese attack on Darwin during World War II. I play an English woman feeling overwhelmed by the continent.

"But I'd also like to learn Russian so one day I could play Chekhov's Uncle Vanya on stage." She giggles. "I can see the critics already dipping their pens in vitriol!"

On her plans with husband Keith Urban:

"Keith and I would really love to have a big family," she says, "but I am so happy right now I couldn't ask for anything more."

Madonna: Racy and Scrawny

Madonna's recent magazine covers for Vanity Fair and Elle are coming soon (April/May) and are said to be "hot and racy."

Now I don't know about you, but Madonna's scrawny body, clad in yet another dominatrix suit, and laid upon a horse that looks dead, does not appeal to me. We've talked about Madonna's body image before. I just have to wonder how much of this quest for perfection is rubbing off on daughter Lourdes. It's got to be damaging.

Charlotte Church Is Looking After Her Body

With new fiery red locks, Charlotte Church went out for lunch with new baby Ruby and her parents to celebrate her 22nd birthday.

Husband Gavin Henson was visibly absent, as he is training with his Welsh teammates. His active lifestyle has inspired Charlotte though, says a pal.

A source said: "Charlotte was so motivated by watching Gavin, she's started doing 30 sit-ups a night and is adding one on every time.

"She hasn't let her diet slip and is looking after her body."

Well we can't see any results under that puffy coat, but it's nice to hear a celebrity mom who isn't doing rash things to get the baby weight off.

Madonna: That'll Put Hair on Your Chest!

My grandfather used to tease me that hard work outside would "put hair on my chest," but as a teenage girl, it was simply funny. I never thought that could happen to people.

Course I wasn't of the same mind as Madonna, who has been putting male testosterone cream on her skin "due to it’s toted ability to increase muscle mass, boost energy, improve memory, and ward off mood swings."

Well it seems she got more than she bargained for, as she is now apparently sprouting chest hair similar to a man.

There are so many inapproriate jokes I could make here about facials and the like, but let me just hope and pray that Madge's voice doesn't start cracking and she can control all those nocturnal emissions.

Let's just hope she stops this silliness before she starts looking like ~~gal~~-pal Rosie O'Donnell:

Dlisted asked if this Fitness magazine cover was a joke, because this body sure doesn't belong to LeAnn Rimes head. What I want to know is, why the hell did Fitness magazine's design department photoshop such a man neck after fixing her body just so.

While we're at it, who chose the colour of that bikini? And the background of the cover is doing nothing for LeAnn's skin. I just want to pull her head off that cover and give it back to her. Poor thing.

The Truth Behind Madonna's Bruises

Last week we pondered the question about Madonna's face and why she looked so banged up. The answer is actually pretty telling about her character.

She was in a confessional mood while lunching with gal pals in London,

"Forty can be a fabulous age — it certainly was for me," she told friends, including Gwyneth Paltrow and Stella McCartney.

"But there's absolutely nothing sexy about 50. The only thing I have to look forward to is the menopause."

Her friends laughed politely, but know there's something else at work here.

"All you have to do is stand within six feet of Madonna these days to see how much work she's had done," says an associate.

"Her skin is so stretched and thin that it's almost translucent when she doesn't have make-up on.

"She's paranoid about the sun as a result — when she goes to the beach, she covers up from head to toe. And she's obsessed with radiators. They tend to dry out the skin, which ages you prematurely, apparently.

"herever possible, she has underfloor heating instead.

"Of course she knows she'll get old eventually, but she's determined to do everything to fight it."

September 2006 - mystery scars near her ears.

"She's been having work done since her 30s, but in the past year she's really stepped it up, which is worrying," says a member of her circle.

"For a long time, she used to rely on non-invasive therapies such as Botox, chemical peels and injectable fillers. But that works only for so long.

"Of course, she finds it embarrassing walking about with black eyes and bruises, but as far as Madonna is concerned, that's a price she's prepared to pay."

Madonna has remained enigmatic on the subject of cosmetic surgery, saying: "I am certainly not against plastic surgery; however, I am absolutely against having to discuss it."

"Madonna is a perfectionist, so seeing her body age is killing her," says a friend.

"Bear in mind that she's been a massive star for over two decades, with people constantly telling her how great and important she is.

"The notion of mortality doesn't sit comfortably with that lifestyle, so she's decided plastic surgery is the only realistic long-term solution. A couple of years ago, up close, she had quite a few lines on her face and looked tired, although fantastic for her age. But now she does look different.

"She has no lines at all on her face and her skin is as tight as a drum. But she has the hands of an old lady and the rumour is that she'll be getting them fixed next."

More rumours. But if she really has been going under the knife for so long, how has she managed to conceal it?

"She usually has her hair cleverly in place to cover up the scars around her ears — you rarely see her with it scraped back," says the friend.

"And the real reason for building that new gym is so she can work out without anyone seeing what she looks like without her make-up.

"The one person she feels comfortable with as herself — not wearing what we call 'the mask' — is her husband.

"They had a rough patch last year, but came through it and that has just made them realise how much they care for each other.

"Recently, Madonna said to me: 'Thank God for Guy — at least I know he loves me for the woman I am, not the star I'm supposed to be.'"

Let's hope Madonna grasps the ability to age gracefully. Fighting it isn't doing much for her face or her psyche. Not to mention what she is teaching her young children. Looks aren't everything, sugar.

He explained recently: “[Jada] quite likes me like [I am now] and I’m really pleased with it, but she likes it more when I’m really bulked up. She prefers my Ali body.”

“I love being in great physical shape. The quality of parenting depends on it, and it impacts on the quality of my relationship with my wife. It’s the beginning of finding happiness achieving the things you want to.”

It's no secret that 53 year old self-proclaimed "America's First Supermodel" Janice DIckinson has had a little nip and tuck.She is now admitting she is addicted to plastic surgery and has spent over $100,000 on it. These quotes made me spit coffee out of my nose this morning though:

"Believe me, I'm a 900-year-old dinosaur and without 14 inches of make-up and 32 pounds of fake weave I wouldn't look the way I do. I want to be the best-looking corpse there is.

"I'm honest about it, I haven't got a problem with it. I borrow bits from everyone. Every six months I fly to Dallas to get Botox and I also get collagen injections. I'm addicted to cosmetic surgery."

Just last week, Janice was on Today talking about how glad she was her daughter isn't into modelling, all the while calling Tyra Banks fat and defending Jennifer Love Hewitt. At least she is honest about herself too.

Tongue in cheek on The Today Show, Janice Dickinson jokingly calls Tyra Banks fat, and says some sensible things about body image, weight and nutrition as well. She's grateful her 13 year old daughter Savannah is "into academics" and "Thank God she doesn't want to be a model."

This is the same woman who spoke the truth of Kevin Federline and Britney Spears in 2006: “I never found him hot at all. But she’s a hick anyway. She needs to get hot again. Stop clomping around in those Malibu flip-flops,” Dickinson told The Book Standard. Dickinson, whose book “Check Please: Mating, Dating, and Extricating” comes out next month, said she’d like to give Spears a makeover. “I would tar and feather her first of all, tell her to dump that [bleeping] hick husband of hers. She needs solid advice, and not from Hicksville.”

Stock up on "a lot of solid undergarments," she tells new moms. Oh, yeah, and if you can swing it, a full wardrobe from Calvin Klein. You know, because those "classic lines" are slimming. As are weekly trips to the spa, and a personal trainer. Those are definitely slimming, too. If you can afford them. Which you can't.
