Christian Bale doesn't need any kind of anything to help him perform. He admits that he was, at one time, tempted to use steroids to build his physique.

He passed up the chance to be a 'roid head and do it all naturally.

The reason he passed it up?

He said, “I called up the store where they’re selling that sort of stuff and asked, ‘Have you used it? And side effects?’ ‘No no. I mean, really minimal. Your balls might shrink and you might get acne.’ I’m like, there’s no way in hell I’m going to touch anything like that and damn those who think I did.”

Ha ha that's funny, he didn't want his junk to shrink. It probably would have made him a little angry and intense. He needs nothing to help him in the intensity department.

Leonardo DiCaprio Headed For Daddyville?

Leonardo DiCaprio, who has been dating model Bar Refaeli, wants his life to be about more than just acting and making movies. He realizes he's not lived a 'normal' life and would like to do so at some point. The 33-year-old actor wants to get married and have babies....

DiCaprio tells Parade magazine, "What I definitely feel a need for is to make my life about more than just my career. Just last night I was thinking to myself how little of my life has been lived normally and not spent on some far-off movie location. I want to get married and have children. In saying that, I realize I am contradicting everything I've said before. I absolutely believe in marriage."

He continues, "I hope I never get cynical. I think you need youthful energy, excitement, and optimism in life.

"There is a lot i want to do, and the more cynical you become, the more you sit on your butt and do nothing. The one thing that I would love is to never become cynical about the things I think are really important, like family, like the environment."

Smiling, he adds, "What I want is to be known as someone who stood for something."

Christian Bale Gets Off Scott Free

Christian Bale's legal woes are over, at least for the moment. Prosecutors in England suggested that he should be cautioned, not charged so he'll get a slap on the wrist instead fines and imprisonment. According to a statement, "Bale will have to admit guilt to get a caution when he answers bail next month. Cops can still charge him if he refuses."

Well good, I'm glad for him. (just call me Pollyanna) We all have those family members that know exactly how to push our buttons and in a high profile, stressful position, who's to say that we wouldn't react the same way.

In England you can be charged for assault even if you don't lay a finger on someone. It's verbal assault. We need some of that here, I get yelled at all the time at work, over mashed potatoes.

Christian already had a strained relationship with his mother, which is why he went with his dad after they got divorced, but I guess asking for money and saying rude things about his wife was not the route his mother should have gone when trying to make amends.

Something To Remember Heath By

Heath Ledger will be missed as an actor, and a movie star, but he will be missed most of all, as a father.

Michelle Williams, Heath Ledger's former fiance, wants to make a film about Heath for Matilda. She wants all of his friends and co-stars to share the stories they have and a little bit about Heath as they knew him so that Matilda can grow up knowing the man that her father was. Matilda was so young when he died that she probably won't have any of her own memories of her daddy, Michelle knows this and will do her best to make sure Matilda can keep his memory alive.

In a statement about Heath's early death Michelle said, "I am the mother of the most tender-hearted, high-spirited, beautiful little girl who is the spitting image of her father. All that I can cling to is his presence inside her that reveals itself every day."

A loving tribute in a sad situation.

Christian Bale Says, Not My Daughter

Christian Bale cares about his daughter enough to keep her out of Hollywood. He is of the school of thought that kids just don't understand the pressures you face in Hollywood and that kids just aren't equipped to deal with the day to day stress of it.

He told WENN, " I have very strong opinions about why kids should not be working at such a young age, I think introducing children to a professional industry where they may not recognize the pressure is wrong. Very quickly they're going to be under pressure, this is an adult industry, I would be skeptical putting anybody I cared about, who was close to me, in this profession at a young age. I absolutely support it as a hobby and as an amateur pursuit but, to enter into it in a professional world, is a whole different ball game."

Christian Bale entered into the industry at a young age so he may know what he is talking about.

Christian Bale is the hands down the best Batman/Bruce Wayne. In this Interview with Parade magazine he let's us know how it all happened and what's up next for him.

What have you learned about Bruce Wayne and about yourself in the years between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight?

"About myself, I always remain the last person to know. But with Bruce, what we have is no longer the angry, young man. We have somebody who now finds himself confronted with the responsibilities of power, not the pursuit of it. He has been surprised by the fact that this is clearly not going to be an endeavor with a finite ending. What Batman is all about is a double-sided edge; there's a duality to this character, which makes him still interesting to play in the sequel—I hope in a third. And I'm working with people who are going to inspire but also demand that I come up with something new. I do love the unknown, but there's more to investigate in Bruce Wayne and Batman."

Now you are not only going to be compared to every Batman that came before you, but with your own portrayal as well.

"Right. I've always enjoyed that challenge, anyway. I don't know if I will grow out of it one day. But I still have a love of just being perverse. I don't mean to waste other people's time by being perverse just for the sake of it. But it can be bloody enjoyable at times."

Superheroes are on the scene in a big way. We seem to be in a time when we want some security, someone to save us.

"I always feel completely oblivious to any Zeitgeist that's coming on. Whenever people talk in those terms, I feel absolutely lost. I know certainly what intrigues me. Most of the time, I tend to think it's complete coincidence if other people are interested in it as well. I do find the man that I play, although he's certainly in the superhero pantheon, is the most questionable of superheroes as he doesn't have special powers whatsoever. I think the others may well question his legitimacy to be a member of the club."

Michael Caine is back as Alfred. How would you describe his influence on you?

"Michael is grace under fire. When I think about him, I think about surfing, which is all effort for me, I get out and battle the waves and I'm exhausting myself. Then you see people who are riding multiple waves in the time it's taken me to fight out there and feel like I'm drowning. Michael's like that. He makes it look effortless."

You can't talk about Batman without discussing the famous suit, and you've been candid about your complaints. Have they done anything to make it more comfortable?

"Thank God, yes, they have. I'm so appreciative of that. The first movie was like having a vice tightened around my skull for months on end. Which I convinced myself only helped me to portray the rage that this alter ego, Batman, felt. I thankfully discovered that I didn't need that vice squeezing my head to portray that rage this time around. They were able to make that a whole lot more comfortable."

So you have an air-conditioned Batsuit?

"It was nothing so advanced as that. It was just material that was able to breathe a little, so that I wasn't leaving the puddles of sweat behind me if I stood still for longer than 30 seconds."

Is success hard to cope with for you as it is with so many stars?

"I don't feel qualified to talk about that yet — not in my professional life. I can't say that I've completely experienced that feeling yet. I would hope that there would still be a fire if I did feel like I had achieved what I'd set out to. But maybe what helps is that I have no idea what I've set out to achieve, so I'll never know when I've gotten there. And so I won't have a sense of having conquered it."

Tell me about agreeing to do the next Terminator.

"I've always had two varying degrees of success, and I'm not talking about anything to do with box office. I'm talking about my own parameters. You know, an interest in attempting in a wide variety of stories. I never desired to be a big studio movie actor, action actor. I've never desired to be a serious independent movie actor. I enjoy all of those. It depends on what mood I'm in. And therefore, I will try to bend those stories into becoming something that I can enjoy myself, varying degrees of success with that. We have an opportunity with it for a continuation, but also a reinvention, and I have to say, much the same way in my mind as we have with Batman. And beyond that I won't say anymore because we're just starting."

People take you very seriously because you're such a good artist. Do you enjoy having some of the privileges that go with being a leading man?

"Of course. And I never forget that. But that's in keeping with the kind of ups and down that I was accustomed to in growing up, that I don't take it for granted. And I don't see it as something that I'm entitled to. I see myself as a lucky bastard. And for some reason, hey, I get to enjoy these things. Is that always going to last? I have no idea. And the day I start believing it's always going to last will probably be the day it's all gone. And, you know, that to me is the definition of a lucky bastard. Because there was no big plan here whatsoever. It's all a happy accident."

Brooke Sheilds Shocked By Her Aging

Beautiful Mama Brooke Sheilds was a little shocked when shooting an comparitive image of her former self, recently: "I keep thinking I'm younger than I am," the Shields, 42, tells Parade magazine. "The other day, I was working with a photographer to recreate an image we had done years ago. When I saw my face, I kind of went, 'What is that?' I assumed I was going to look the same, and I didn't. It was a shock to my system."

"Sometimes I'll read a part and identify with the material, and I'll say, 'Oh, honey, I really like this,' " Shields says. "He'll look at me like I'm crazy and ask, 'What's wrong with you? You're not in your 20s. You seriously think you can walk in there and get this role? It's going to a 24-year-old.' "

Still, this gorgeous Mom of two finds a lot to be proud about:

"I'm really proud of my kids (Rowan, 4, and Grier, 22 months), I'm excited about my job, and my marriage is not suffering. It's not easy, but it's not falling apart," she says. "This is the first time in my life that everything is exactly the way I want it to be."

Rosie O'Donnell Sends Gifts to Elizabeth Hasselbeck's Baby Boy

Rosie O sure talks a lot. You guys know I can't stand her, but she wants the world to know just how wonderful she is.

*rolls eyes*

So she sent baby gifts to Elizabeth Hasselbeck. Big deal. People reports:

"He's very, very cute. I saw him on TV, and I sent him a lovely gift, and [she and Hasselbeck] have been e-mailing each other. And peace prevails."

The View got it's Hassle Back this week - and Lizzie brought the baby with her.

Remember when I said Rosie couldn't shut up? There's more:

"I sent something for him and something for his big sister [Grace, 2]," said O'Donnell. "Because, as the mother of four, I know that when the newborn arrives, the most important thing is a sibling gift. For [Taylor], it was a lot of clothes, because babies spit up a lot. I go to Baby Gap. There is a standard newborn gift pack – as much as you can buy at the Gap without being arrested. And a learning gift, a soft shape sorter. And then for [Grace] who is older, I got a tea set that she loves."

"We e-mail back and forth," she said. "She seems good. She looks like she adopted, like she didn't give birth. She looks perfectly fit and gorgeous already."

Rosie O'Donnell Voted Most Annoying Celebrity

Parade Magazine is my new favorite publication. Not only did they recognize the darling Violet Affleck as the Cutest Baby in Hollywood, but they realize the power of the obvious: Rosie O'Donnell is ANNOYING.

Rosie went straight to her annoying website and posted an annoying video blog: "I am the most annoying, I suppose, but whatever."

Her daughter Vivi did not agree: "No, you're not!"

My other picks for most annoying celebs: Elizabeth Hasselbeck, Britney Spears and Larry Birkhead. It's a 4-way tie in my book. Oh look! All those people are PARENTS. FANTASTIC.

Brad Pitt Drops Knowledge on Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt is more than just a pretty face. The guy is pretty deep and amazingly grounded. He recently talked to Parade magazine about his passion for helping others, his lack of religious faith and his empathy with the tabloids.

On helping others: "Whoever said all men are born equal never left his own backyard. I see people everywhere without opportunity. I want to help level the playing field."

On religion and faith: "When I got untethered from the comfort of religion, it wasn't a loss of faith for me, it was a discovery of self. I had faith that I'm capable enough to handle any situation. There's peace in understanding that I have only one life, here and now, and I'm responsible."

On the paparazzi: "I understand the tabloid machine. There's money to be made off of Angie and me, but it has gotten so out-of-hand. There's no decency, even when it comes to our kids."

I feel for Brad, and it's not just because I feel the same pressures of fame and amazing good looks, which I do, but because he seems so genuine despite having every opportunity not to be. That says a lot about a person.

At the end of the day he's just a loving dad, and that is about as cool as it gets. He adds, "What's important to me is that I've defined my beliefs and lived according to them and not betrayed them. One of those is my belief in family. I still have faith in that."

Amen, brother.

Andre Agassi, Steffi Graff and the Good (Luck) Life

The US Open is underway in NYC, and tennis stories are popping up. Parade Magazine, the original "respectable" gossip rag, featured retired tennis star Andre Agassi this week. Andre used to be considered a real bad boy. Long hair, crazy clothes, he dated Barbra Streisand and was married to Brooke Shields. Definitely a burn the candle at both ends kind of guy. At one point it seemed like he had gone too far and was in danger of flaring out. To the surprise of many people he regrouped and created a classic second act for himself, including a second marriage to fellow tennis star Steffi Graf.

In the Parade article Andre is very gracious and admits he's been lucky. He is also quick to acknowledge Steffi and her influence. But the thing that comes across most strongly is how hard this man works at everything he does. I wish some of the sloppy, lazy, self-entitled stars today would take a few notes from Andre.

Andre and Steffi have two beautiful children, son Jaden, 5 and daughter Jaz who is 3. They seem like a thoughtful, hardworking and industrious couple, and very involved parents. They are enjoying a lot of success, and for once it's easy to be happy for a famous couple. They deserve everything the have.
