Parents Square Off Against The New Burger King Video Featuring SpongeBob and Sir Mix A Lot

What do SponeBob, Sir Mix-a-lot and the Burger King guy have in common? They're all in a nearly incoherent commercial that pissing of all sorts of parenting groups. (video after the break)

How can you possibly go wrong when you manage to fit three of greatest cultural icons of the last 100 years into a 30 second commercial?

Well, aside from the fact that the spot makes almost no sense at all -- except at the end where it shills 99 cent SpongeBob Kid's Meals -- watchdog groups like the Campaign for a Commercial Free Childhood (CCFC) are angry that BK is "sexualizing" SpongeBob. They accuse the commercial of using sex to sell grease burgers to kids.

People who like things to make sense are complaining that the spot is like a bad acid trip where you don't learn anything and end up with an annoying 90s dance hit stuck in your head.

Feminists are complaining that the ad promotes the objectification of women, especially the part where the Burger King guy actually measures ladies' square butts.

The only one who's not complaining is Sir Mix-a-lot, who's probably glad to grab a fat paycheck.

Miley Cyrus: "Nobody's Perfect" Indeed

Miley Cyrus is still upset over the Vanity Fair photo scandal. The June issue of the publication showed a 15 year old Cyrus wrapped in a sheet, as photographed by Annie Leibowitz. The photo had many parents up in arms over Miley's choice to bare a lot of skin, as a direct conflict of her role model status.

"It still hurts when I think about it. I was embarrassed... but also it's, like, every career thing that I do can't be perfect, and sometimes my decisions are wrong."

Cyrus adds, "I don't think people will look at me any differently because they're like, 'You know what, I'm going to do stupid stuff too, and I'm going to make mistakes, and that's fine.'"

Oh she's just being Miley. I think parents put too much emphasis on young stars to be role models for their children. Yeah Miley's sexual side clearly sells merchandise, but ultimately it's up to us as parents to be a filter and be our kid's best role models, no?

Miley Cyrus refuses to tame her crazy ways for boys, the young Disney star said.

“I’m too much to handle right now," Cyrus said.

“I can’t be quiet and cute for boys - I have to be a bit crazy.”

Miley just completed a photo shoot for Breakout that has Moms turning their heads.

The actress also revealed her embarrassment when she came face-to-face with her celebrity crush.

“It was so embarrassing, when I first moved to Los Angeles, I had a crush on Jesse McCartney," she told Top of the Pops magazine.

"In fact, the first song I ever wrote was about Jesse. He was on my show and I told him and he was like, ‘That’s so cute!’"

Cyrus insists she no longer has a crush on any other celebrities because “they’re all getting old”, but does have a soft spot for one star.

“Orlando Bloom is gorgeous, but he’s a bit of a player,” she said.

Orlando Bloom? Sweetie he is TWICE your age! He wouldn't look in your general direction!

The Sexualization of Miley Cyrus

I don't get it. Maybe it's because I'm a Mom of two little boys. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but 15 year old Miley Cyrus looks a hell of a lot older in these photos for her Breakout album.

Also? The microphones? Wrong, just wrong. Between the phallic symbolism and the clothing, the suggestive poses are just icing on the cake in a package that is clearly selling. It makes me sick.

I smell a Britney repeat. Don't get me wrong, this isn't her fault entirely. Her parents obviously are following the money trail and it's so very obvious what sells.
