Michelle Obama on the Cover of Vogue

Michelle Obama is being heralded as a modern-day fashion icon, and now here's proof: the new First Lady will be appearing on the cover of the March issue of Vogue magazine. Mrs. Obama appears wearing a magenta silk sheath dress by Jason Wu, who also designed her inaugural gown.

Not surprisingly much of the interview, conducted by Vogue editor at large Leon Talley, centers around Mrs. Obama's self-appointed title as "mom in chief" to daughters 10-year-old Malia and 7-year-old Sasha.

"I'm going to try to take them to school every morning, as much as I can," she said. "But there's also a measure of independence. And obviously there will be times I won't be able to drop them off at all. I like to be a presence in my kids' school. I want to know the teachers; I want to know the other parents."

I can't wait to read the interview with our new First Lady, who seems so refreshingly down-to-earth and devoted to her family. Finally, a reason to buy Vogue again.

The always beautiful actress Julianne Moore, 48, graces the cover of Redbook's February issue, and she talks about family, being a working mom and her charity involvement with Save the Children.

Here are a few highlights from the interview:

How she balances work and motherhood:

"I try to work in the summer, or shoot in New York City. I'll try to come back every weekend, or schedule around school breaks. No one likes it, but you're trying to make a living. People say, 'Then don't do it,' but I do have a career. Every woman I know strives for flexibility, and I fortunately have a tremendous amount of it."

Who's more strict - Julianne or husband writer-director Bart Freundlich?

"We both are. But I think moms and dads get angrier at different things. When I talk to other mothers, they say that sometimes dads get mad at things that kids can't help. If a kid is having a tantrum, dads will be, 'Stop that right now.' Moms will be like, 'He's out of control. You can't discipline; you have to find a way to contain it.' Whereas moms get angry if someone breaks a rule. The rule is: Don't wipe dirty hands on the wall, and dads will say, 'What's the big deal?'"

How has becoming a mother changed her?

"You do learn a tremendous amount of patience. Children's pace is glacial, and you can't change that. Literally, just walking down the street with them, I thought I was going to tear my hair out, but that's where they are. It's not difficult to take care of a child; it's difficult to do anything else while taking care of a child. Trying to clean up the kitchen after you've had a baby is a nightmare. You have to wait for the baby to be asleep, you're exhausted, you don't want to clean up the kitchen now. My kids still don't like me to read the newspaper in the morning. I'll be making their breakfast, and I'll have The New York Times there and want to read it, and they'll be like, 'Mommy, Mommy, Mommy.'"

About her daughter Liv, 6:

"She's incredible, so smart. She's in first grade. I have these pictures of her at kindergarten, I'm sitting on a chair and she's sitting on my lap and I'm talking in her ear and she looks so worried. Kindergarten is the hardest for me — that's the year I cry. I walk out of that classroom and I burst into tears. They're entering the school world."

On 11-year-old son Caleb's braces & his birthday trip to Paris:

"My son had to go to the orthodontist to have his braces off yesterday. We celebrated by chewing gum." And about his birthday:

"Two months ago, apropos of nothing, my son said, 'Mommy, for our birthdays, instead of a party, let's go to Paris, just the two of us.' This is probably the last time in his life Cal will want to go somewhere alone with his mother. I was flattered and thrilled."

On her charity work with Save the Children:

"A friend of mine is their artist-ambassador person. She gets people involved. I didn't realize Save the Children had a U.S. program; it reaches communities through the public school system with after-school programs in nutrition, exercise, literacy. We moved a lot when I was little because my dad was in the military, and I went to one public school after another. I lived in Lincoln, Nebraska; Fayetteville, South Carolina; Juneau, Alaska; Falls Church, Virginia. In Juneau — I've told this story many times; it was a formative experience for me — there was a girl in my class. She looked different, very small for her age, very thin, eyes very wide; there was something wrong but no one knew what. I now realize she had fetal alcohol syndrome. It makes me want to cry. I look at our public school system and think there's so much we can do to pick up the slack. So now I'm Save the Children's U.S. ambassador."

I knew it. He's a schmuck.

Kevin Federline returned to his partying ways while the kids celebrated their birthdays with Britney and her family.

He may have had a party for them the weekend prior to her truck/monster themed bash so he may not be a complete schmuck to some, but to me, complete schmuck.

Last I heard the pair were getting cozy again, but I guess he's on the outs now that Britney has her support group around her. Take that K-Fed.

We also know that she has the whole dating Russell Brand thing going on, and we know how she loves British accents, so Kevin must currently be at the bottom of the list.

According to a friend of Kevin, "he loves his children, but if he's having fun someplace else he'll stick with that."

Where was the pop princess headed?

According to a source, she was at a photo shoot for Vogue magazine at a private home in Bel Air. Also, Vogue's Patrick Demarchelier reportedly came to the US to photograph Britney for an issue of Vogue.

Britney's manager must be ecstatic that she is healthy, not crazy, and is being welcomed back in the public eye with open arms.

Yay! for Britney. May you have green lights all the way home!

Now she just needs to take the kids down to the local Kiddie Kandids for some current shots of the boys, for us, the public to drool over.

Actress Julianne Moore is 47 - she'll turn 48 in just 4 months - and um, she's still hot! The married mom of two, recently did photos for Wonderland Magazine and although she's clearly beautiful, her husband thinks she's weird....why?

Julianne's husband, Bart Freundlich thinks she's odd because of the dark roles she often chooses.

"He thinks I'm weird. There was a script I read recently where I was like, 'Ooh this horrible thing happens and it's really good because they're all dead!' He's like, 'What is the matter with you?'"

Moore plays 1920s socialite, Barbara Baekeland in her latest movie called Savage Grace, and gets pretty raunchy with her on-screen son.

Julianne says, "People ask all the time if sex scenes and nudity are hard. What's hard? Not the lines or the physicality but the emotion."

Apparently Katie Holmes is mad as hell and she's not going to take it anymore. Likewise for Victoria Beckham. The former BFF's are feuding over some important stuff, namely fashion and hair. It could get ugly. It could also get hot, and not because I find either one of them attractive, but because as any boy scout can tell you, when you rub two twigs together you get fire. I'm afraid that someone may get burned.

Word on the proverbial street is that the hubbub is due to Victoria scoring the cover of Vogue, something that Katie thought she would/should have.

According to a source, she is "envious that Victoria scored the more prestigious magazine. Katie feels that she deserved it more.”

Katie then went on to knock Posh's ink: “When Victoria advised her to get some tattoos like hers, Katie hit the roof, saying, ‘Tattoos are trashy. I wouldn’t be caught dead with one.”

“Victoria said, ‘How dare she attack my tattoos? I know more about fashion than she’ll ever know. I have my own line! I’ve told her what to wear and what not to - she used to dress like a schoolgirl. Then she even tried to copy my hair. Now she doesn’t think she needs me.’”

See? UGLY. I'm not sure who I'd take in this fight. Sure, Posh is packing some WMD's in her blouse and must be tough since she's all tattooed, but Katie has years of pent-up frustration and Cruise crazy in her smiling little head. If that cracks, man, the Xenu will hit the fan. However, Katie is soft from spending all of her time, well, some of her time, with her little doll Suri, whereas Victoria has 3 boys and a straight husband. She's used to the rough stuff, even at 90lbs soaking wet.

Classy is one word I've never heard used when it comes to Victoria Beckham. Vogue recently shot a spread of her in a aregal dress and is calling her classy and posh. She looks great, but I still see those tits and see a Vegas stripper. She has a pretty profile though - too bad the head on shot is like a rat looking for dinner.

Cate Blanchett has denied pregnancy rumors, but that there is a baby bump if I've ever seen one. If she isn't pregnant that's the most severe case of bloating I've seen since I ate a half-pound steak smothered in gorgonzola and washed it down with a milkshake.

This would be Cate's third child - her and husband Andrew Upton have two sons, Dashiell, 5 and Roman, 3.

And the list gets longer of celebs waiting to 'confirm' their pregnancies: Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, Angelina Jolie and now Cate Blanchett. I see a big 'Pregnancy Confirmation' photo shoot in Vogue, with all four ladies stripped down to their granny panties, green with nausea and showing off their big bellies. Bet it would outsell Jen.

I did wonder for a moment if he had to take a second job, like so many divorced Dads, just to make ends meet. Then I was distracted by his "yeah, I have to hold my guns out like this and clench my ass because I'm so pumped from working out at the gym" pose. Vintage Madonna dancer posture. And he has the time to put into that kind of exercise program because, you know, he's not what you'd call real busy with film work. Which brought me back to thinking he really might need that second job.
