Plaxico Burress Shoots Himself

Plaxico Burress of the New York Giants was shot at a nightclub last night.

He's okay, but he might be a tad bit embarrassed. Here's why- he shot himself. Yes, he shot himself. According to the New York Post, Burress shot himself in the leg "while fumbling with a gun just after midnight near the VIP entrance to the Latin Quarters club on Lexington Avenue.

"The round went through his right thigh, and left an injury that was not life threatening. It was unknown how it would affect his career. Burress, 31, was released from the hospital at 2 p.m. today."

Burress has had a sometimes stellar and often troubled career thus far playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers before signing with the Giants in 2005.

Plaxico Burress has one son, Elijah, who will turn two in January. Elijah is named for Burress' NY Giant teammate Eli Manning.

While I'm very glad that Burress is okay I can't help but wonder, what the hell was he thinking? Why in the world was he carrying a firearm?

Shots Fired at Party with Usher and Sean "Diddy" Coombs

At 3:30 a.m. this morning, shots were fired at a party at Dreamz ATL, which was sponsored by Jermaine Dupri. Usher, Nelly and Sean "Diddy" Coombs were in attendance. A security guard was wounded.

"I'm sad this incident happened because it interrupted a beautiful and loving party. But I'm happy none of my people or friends got hurt. And the party continues," Dupri said in a statement.

"I didn't hear the shots, but around 3:30 a.m., everybody started ducking," a party guest reported. "Nobody really knew what happened. It was dark in the club. And everyone was trying to get out of the VIP area, but there were so many people no one could really move."

An announcement was made that the sound wasn't shots but a bottle popping or a speaker problem, "But people, including the celebs, were still trying to leave, so I don't think anyone believed them," he says. "I got outside, and the cops shut the club down. No one inside could leave and no one outside in the parking lot could leave either. One of my friends was stuck inside the club and people were scared that the shooter was still inside."
