While this is disgraceful its hardly a "Chinese" phenomenon. take a look a female news anchors, hot. Weather women-very hot. I work in an industry that actively recruits cheerleaders for the sales positions because beautiful women sell more product. External beauty sells, and the United States is just as culpable in the beauty wars and all our daughters, Chinese or American, will continue to struggle with this false idea of physical perfection.

This event was planned for years, how could they let a corrupt communist asshole in the Politburo, amateurishly make a last minute change like this?

I agree with the other posters, I think the first girl, Yang Peiyi, is much cuter, because to me, the second girls face shows the obvious contortions of a fake smile and nothing is uglier to me than a fake beauty contestant smile.

Typical I say, typical...reinforces the notion...MADE IN CHINA, a brand the world is familiar with. If the official who made the point about this being in the best interests of the nation, than isn't China, telling the world, they are a nation of deceivers?

Why are we even there in the first place...we should be boycotting the olympics in Beijing...this just reinforces the duplicity of the Chinese...DON'T TRUST THEM...
