Why is her seeking custody so important to you? Maybe the boys are better off with their father and she recognizes that. Sometimes Mothers have good reasons for not seeking custody, and stigmatizing that choice has probably led to some preventable tragedies over the years. I spent my teen years with my father after my mother voluntarily relinguished custody, she had very good reasons for doing so and it was best for me, but she certainly got it in the neck from family and friends for the decision. Snappy sexist judgments aren't any kinder or more logical when they are based on an anti-male (men can't be the go-to custodial parent) premise. Certainly, her ex-husband seems to have been more stable than she over the last few years, and the boys are less in the public eye. Maybe she thinks that is better for the boys, or is that not important?
