This election is serious, and tanning beds aren't. So she spent $35K -- it was her money. If it was state money, it would be a scandal.

It all boils down to what your beliefs are. If you like a Communist Government (nationalizing companies, seizing assets, financing private enterprise), high taxes (on everybody except corporations, who transfer their costs to the rest of us), redistribution of wealth (from the bottom to the top), having the state control your birth control (against all conservative principles), then you will vote McCain. If you want accountability, lower taxes, practical ways to keep children safe and lower abortion, and any real protection against terrorists, you'll vote Obama.

Five years after 9/11, the Republican congress still hadn't passed legislation to inspect incoming cargo containers or get first responders the equipment they need. It took the "do nothing" Democratic congress of 2006 to pass that.

Republicans are all bluster, no practical action. Please do not assist them by dwelling on trivialities.

The last free days for Palen under the watchful eyes of John McCane has been a disaster, John and the republican party now relize that John McPalen and Cuties the lying mavericks and flip floppers from Arizona/Alaska is really two empty vessels that are trying to lie their way to the whitehouse. Fat chance of that even a few republicans has some sence left. Palen/McCane ticket may have a better chance of winning. At least she can bring a few voters to their rallies, even if it is to she her sexy bod.

Are you people really this stupid? The point is, DID she really pay for it with her funds? And is she going to use her OWN funds to remove it upon leaving, or leave that bill to the taxpayers? And why on earth didn't she just install it in her home? She shouldn't be treating the governor's mansion like a day spa; she's there for official business. Go home and tan. Why does running the state of Alaska for 20 MONTHS not compare to showing up in the US senate for 83 days total (Senate for 2 years and on the campaign trail for 19 months of that)?

It all boils down to what your beliefs are, no matter who is running. If you like a Socialistic ( Communist )Government, high taxes, redistrubtion of wealth, having abortion as a form of berth control, them you will vote Obama. If you want self acountability, lower taxes, anti-abortion, and pro 2nd amendment, you'll vote McCain. That's all there is!!!!!

In Alaska it can get really dark for most of the year. People are starved for sunlight and vitiman D. Tanning beds are still a bad idea, due to the risk of skin cancer. But I doubt anyone from alaska would make such a big deal about it. Many negative things about Palin are coming to light, but the tanning bed isnt as screwy as it looks at first.

Way to make excuses. I live in Alaska, and it is not that hard to get adequate vitamin D in the winter. One of the best sources of natural vitamin D is fish, including salmon, which is abundant up here. And milk is not that expensive around Anchorage, although it does get ridiculously expensive in the more remote areas of the state.

For people suffering from SAD, light therapy is way more cost effective than tanning and safer for your skin. SAD lights are readily available up here, are under $200, and they can even be rented from pharmacies.

And your assumption that only Natives (it is capitalized) are adapted to the long winters is ignorant, and a little racist. The lighter a person's skin is, the easier it is for them to produce vitamin D from sun exposure. It is dark skinned people that require longer doses of sunlight to produce adequate levels of vitamin D, and are more prone to vitamin D deficiency in Northern climates.

People in Alaska go tanning for the same reasons as people elsewhere in the US, vanity. Its definitely not a health issue.

UV light is the best source of Vitamin D. People living in northern climates, especially Alaska, are unable to get adequate sunlight during the winter months, and unless they are native, have not adapted. Milk (another primary source) is quite expensive in Alaska. Add into this that women are at a high risk of Osteoporosis then this is not that extreme. Furthermore, people living in northern climates are also more susceptable to SAD because of lack of sunlight, and Alaskan's use of tanning beds is quite common. Don't let your own ignorance result in quick judgements. Use the brains you claim republicans don't have and think before you blog.

ALL Rednecks and strippers have tanning beds. I am less likely to vote for her because as mayor of the rape capitol of the USA she forced rape victims to foot the bill for their own rape kits. $400-$1200 dollar each. Even underage victims. feminism marched on past Alaska. When the State said it was illegal there was outrage by the staff that the taxpayers would have to pay for them.
