Oh my GOD! Thank the Lord for HUGE miracles. I can't stand that idiotic, closed minded, hypocritical, ditz. Please let this be true and not a rumor. I love "hot topics" on The View but sometimes I have to forward it on tivo when she begins to speak. The most annoying B__ on the planet.

Heck yes! I can't wait til she leaves the View...I can't stand watching her so I've pretty much turned away from watching the show...I think it's hysterical that Fox News is happy to take her...they are just as one sided...that would be the perfect place for her...good riddance!!!!

A wee bit off topic but I watched some of the last debate - not all as I couldn't stomach McCain's obvious hatred (he must really feel threatened!) If he can't respect a colleague, how would he treat the peons (sp?) he would govern as president? I was flabbergasted when Elisabeth actually pointed out when McCain was trying to demean Obama regarding Columbia, that she was quite gleeful of the way McCain handled that point (I found it appalling). I'm sitting there wondering - was she watching the same debate I was????

You go Howell1...You are sooo right!! Whoopi and the rest of the panel keep trying to engage her in intellectual conversation regarding the candidiates...they keep knocking on Elisabeth's door, but nobody's home!! The lights are on, but nobody's home, you get my idea...The sad truth is, I tune into the View everyday just to see her make an idiot out of herself. What will I do after the election? If McCain wins, which he won't, she won't stop singing his praises. If it's Obama, keep our fingers crossed, she'll find every single thing wrong with the man...he smiled to much, he doesn't show enough emotion, etc. It must be tough being her husband and being married to her.

New to this...I like The View but EH gets me riled up every day. I have no problem with her being on the show and expressing the view points of the other side. I actually like conversations like that when the people speaking don't agree and they try to make their point to each other and why they believe this, or back up what they're saying. What gets me is the way in which EH addresses everyone and says certain things but then can't back it up when questioned. I completely agree that she has 'tunnel vision' and has an 'unbalanced' view point

Parker girl, I agree with the general consensus regarding Elisabeth. However, my point is that I don't believe that Elisabeth believes anything I have to say about her. I also don't think she believes her views are "unbalanced." I think Elisabeth believes she's bright and original and loyal to her party. As far as expanding her mind...that will never happen! Elisabeth cannot correct what she cannot acknowledge, and what she can't admit to herself is that she's incapable of forming her own opinions. All the poor girl does is repeat what she hears from her party's strategists. Maybe she thinks her approach is effective and not as transparent. Elisabeth makes it easy for me to criticize her and I am not proud of that, but I have been making an effort to feel some compassion for her. I would enjoy The View's Hot Topics a lot more, if she left the show. As for tomorrow's Hot Topics, Elisabeth will not fail to give us "more of the same," but I am looking forward to it anyway.

What's your point Grandmama? It seems to me that by your comment, you would agree with the general concensus of Elisabeth. The attractive part is up for debate. Is she passionate about what she believes in, YES!! We all agree on that one. We just believe that she sometimes paints an unbalanced view on "The View". She believes the Republicans are supreme beings and anyone who believes differently...well there's something wrong with them! She needs to understand that many Republicans don't agree with much about McCain also. The same can be said for Obama/Democrat supporters. She just needs to open/expand her mind a little. I'm sorry to say, but I don't have high expectations for Hot Topics tomorrow, because she won't have anything relevant to say about the debate.

I am a first time visitor to this site and discovered how sad and unhappy a number of commentators are! Their remarks support my belief that we are who we are and only change if we want to change. Most of us never change we just get older. But to my purpose... The View bias? Not my opinion, of course, and I must say that most of the ugly comments are simply recycled by those limited people in the absence of intelligence. Especially lacking in thinking ability are those using the SNL sobriquet for Barbara Walters. If you are young, then you are borrowing from another time and have no clue of its signicance. If you are not young and can actually remember SNL back then, you not only date yourself, (as a matter of fact, am I dating myself) but you are displaying the onset of dementia. Sad. Here's my comment, then. EH is an attractive, passionate and often uninformed young woman today. Tomorrow, however, I believe she may be a somewhat-less-attractive, passionate and usually uninformed older woman. The big question is...will she know the difference?

Exactly Sassy and JayMonster...Elisabeth wouldn't get the bashing she deserves unless she could back her opinion up. Again, I don't believe most people have a problem with her opinions, its that she refuses to ever see the big picture. I have agreed with Elisabeth on some things, not many, but once in a blue moon. But you don't see any of the other hostess' being personally offended when another doesn't agree with them. Other people are allowed to have opinions other than ones that agree with hers. Whoopi does and you don't see her acting like Elisabeth. I'm not sure if it's Elisabeth's age or what, but she certainly has an extreme case of tunnel vision. The show the other day about "selective moralism" really drove home to me that she chooses to pick and choose what's convenient for her. She has a double standard when it comes to Obama/Biden and McCain/Palin. I really think she thinks McCain can live by a different set of rule books. That's not right. I'm an avid viewer of the show now because I like to see the fireworks and I enjoy seeing Elisabeth backed into a corner. But after "hot topics", I usually go about my business at home.

I don't care if she worships the ground McCain/Palin walk on but at least have some intelligence to back up your beliefs without resorting to answering a question with a question. Sassy, I think your last comment, more than the article itself points to the real problem with Elisabeth Hasselbeck. She is "accused" of pouting, because that is exactly what she does. She feels as if she has to "constantly defend herself" because she gives nothing in the way of thought provoking reasons behind her statements. It is as if, she expects what she says to be absolute and beyond reproach, and is "insulted" when she is not agreed with.

To that extent, she should move over to Fox news. Her absolute tunnel vision will be an asset to her there. That doesn't mean she shouldn't be replaced with somebody else with a conservative point of view for balance. Just one that is more articulate, and actually ready to back up her points with more than, "just because."

I loved Elisabeth on the View today. I'm using her words..."selective moralism". She coined that term when talking about Obama and his association with Ayers. Whoopie asked why should only a select few be held accountable for who they associated with 40 yrs. ago. Many people who represent us in the Congress and else where have a checkered past. Anyone who's reading this does. I just find it interesting that Elisabeth points the finger at Obama and should equally turn it on McCain/Palin, and quite frankly herself.

I agree Parker Girl - it's Elisabeth's tunnel-vision that is frustrating beyond belief. First of all, I don't care who they're voting for - but all of my friends from the US, regardless of what party they're for, have issues with both sides. Perhaps they're leaning towards Obama, but that doesn't mean he's God and walks on water. Same goes for friends who may be for McCain. It's Elisabeth's "black and white and no gray area" that's maddening. And yup, when she's asked a specific question, she can't back her shit up - she answers the question with a question. She's a robot with no maturity to even entertain another side, opinion or view.

Thank you...GladIFoundU. Yes, I had a chuckle when Elisabeth asked Sherri if it was now getting personal. I guess that's her answer when she doesn't have one!! Once again on todays show they were talking about past associates of both candidates. Who does she zero in on first?....Obama and the Ayers connection. Not McCain and his association with S & L or anything else. Listen, I lean towards Obama, but he's not everything I want in a President either. I just find Elisabeth frustrating because she's blind. She thinks McCain and the Palin walk on water and that Obama is the anti-Christ. Did she ever her the saying that people in glass house shouldn't throw stones? She better look at her heaven sent Republican party and take a better look. I like her on today's show when she stated that she "guarnatees" that if anyone looks at past conflicts/associates that McCain's would be a much shorter list than Obama. That's her opinion. It doesn't make her right. It's her approach that pisses me off. I agree that Joy seems irritated by her half the time but I believe she challenges Elisabeth. Whoopi is the best of all...she states her case in an articulate way and that's it. You can agree to disagree with her. She'll survive another day. Elisabeth takes it as a personal attack. We all have to vote according to what our beliefs are. Mine personally are woman's rights and the right to choose. That's one that's on the top of my list. That doesn't make me like everything else about Obama, I disagree with him on somethings. But I actually disagree/agree with some things on McCains side. I personally don't like the campaign that McCain is running. I think he's running scared and now he's fighting dirty. That doesn't earn me your respect...and I wouldn't like it if Obama got that nasty also. Elisabeth needs to go away, politics aside, she contributes nothing to the show at all.

Parker Girl you said it well! Elisabeth IS unreasonable - that is what I believe is so frustrating.

The reason I watch the show is because I really like Whoopi and how she articulates her opinions. I like Joy although, at times, she can be quite harsh (but secretly I think its her frustration with Elisabeth that sometimes erupts with hostility - just to goad Elisabeth!) At least Joy doesn't seem to care what anybody thinks of her comments while Elisabeth is like a programmed robot - one that has been programmed poorly as she often cannot substantiate and back up her position.

Sherri is sweet and I don't believe all that politically inclined which is fine by me. I found her challenging Elisabeth the other day quite unusual but thoroughly enjoyable. Anyone else find it mind-blowing to hear Elisabeth ask if it was personal?

Elisabeth is not a scholar so I am not sure why people expect her to act like one. She is an average American and by that I mean a typical person who lets their biases get in the way of rational thought. We all have some opinions which are probably not very rational but even we would admit that. Elisabeth has no independent thought. She is a Reupblican robot. All of her opinions, and I mean all of them (or at least it appears that way) lean only one way. This is what bothers me the most about her. But then again, what's the big deal. Like Ouch says, she is a former reality tv contestant. What did we expect? She's married to a former benchwarmer who played on 5 teams in 6 seasons and only actually played in 5 games yet she always talks about "Tim's playing days" and "when we would go to Tim's games". Tim rarely played. He carried a clipboard the entire game. What is she talking about. If she sees her husband's career that way, no wonder she sees things with her slanted view. I hope she goes to Fox because then very few people would have to put up with her extremely biased views. Good riddance.

Are there cobwebs lurking where Elisabeth's brain use to be. She comes off as very immature on the show. She answers every question thrown at her about McCain/Palin with a question about Obama/Biden. She never answers the questions. It irritates the crap out of me!! Listen, I'm leaning toward Obama. But that doesn't mean I like everything about him. Elisabeth seems to defend McCain and have an excuse for everything that he's every done. On today's show she stated that candidates should be accountable to who they associate themselves with. Well quess what, she didn't have an answer when Sherri asked her why McCain isn't accountable for the Keating 5 S & L scandal. McCain was found not guilty, but according to her "standards" he should be held accountable because he associated himself with her. I usually don't think Sherri has much to offer at the table, but I did like her today calling out Elisabeth. Elisabeth is so unreasonable, she's like a spoiled brat. If people don't agree with her, she pouts. I think Joy and Whoopi usually handle it very well. You can tell Whoopi has no patience for Elisabeth, but graciously keeps her mouth shut and lets Elisabeth screw up all on her own. Joy just laughs her off. I really don't know Elisabeth is a host. She offers nothing to the discussion other than her unrealistic views. Listen, they can all agree at the table to disagree, but there is something so irritating about Elisabeth...it's not her politics, although that doesn't help. I find her irritating when she's interviewing a guest or even a segment on deals, gadgets, etc. She comes off as someone who likes to think she's an authority on everything, when in reality, she knows nothing.

The political divide in the US is extremely large. When you get people defending the actions and words of a television personality who got her start by wearing a bikini on Survivor then you know we are way past logical reasoning. Defending all things Republican for Republican's sake is not exactly a new thing. She's just another in a long line of conservatives who espouse whatever view is dictated out of Fox News Channel or Rush Limbaugh's radio show regardless of the weakening US military, economy and worldwide perception. You can debate all you like but it is virtually indisputable that most of the last 8 years in the US have been a total abysmal failure. If she wants to stand behind the Republican policies and politicians who are to blame for this fact then that is certainly her right. I'll look forward to her weather forecasts on the Fox News Channel.
