I was briefly married years ago, thankfully a childless union. Years before I met my ex, I had this &quot;perfect boy name&quot; in my mind, which turned out to be his. Well, when I did have a boy many years later, do you think I named him after my ex? Of course not, the name was now burned. </p> <p>I would have hoped for the same decency in return. But last year I learned he had a baby girl and named her my &quot;perfect girl name&quot;, which is the nickname my mom used to give me as a child (and the name we had talked about giving to a hypothetical girl). It&#39;s not such a rare name and I suppose his new wife picked it up and he probably didn&#39;t have the heart to tell her why he didn&#39;t want it.
