God bless the boobies.

In two to three weeks I looked almost the same as before my pregnancy, much to my surprise! (I had a C-section too.)

Everyone's different, and that means that yes, there are some people who drop the baby weight effortlessly through nursing alone. I'm proof of it (and I'm a late-thirties mother of two).

With BOTH my babies, I lost exactly 18 lbs. in the first 14 days after birth. That left me with 9 left to lose with my first baby and 6 left to lose with my second. It took me about six months to lose the last 9 lbs. with baby number 1, but believe it or not, with baby number two, I lost every bit of pregnancy weight in three weeks. It was like a miracle to me, because I was eating more than I ever had in my life, was constantly, desperately hungry, stuffed myself with ice cream, bread, whole milk, chocolate, and every heavy food you can imagine, but the nursing took it ALL out of me. I felt like I could not eat enough. Of course my babies nursed exclusively and often, and by the time #2 came along, I was also busy running around after #1 who was only 2 at the time. Healing from a c-section also burned a lot of calories.

Bottom line, it works for some, not for others, it's all about everyone's individual biology!
