I agree NYCMom! Obviously there are circumstances where a c-section is required but to just go ask for one seems crazy to me!

Another celebrity perpetuating the myth that vaginal birth is somehow traumatizing and life-threatening, and opting for a cesarean, with twice the risk of maternal death and higher risk of respiratory distress for baby. Really, really sad. If Christina is such a powerful woman, why wouldn't she welcome the challenge of childbirth?

Wow, I feel this is a situation where the best laid plans will surely go astray! I'm not a huge fan of opting to have a c-section over a natural birth. I've seen to much data that points toward the baby and mother having a better birth experience if they try to do things natural it at all possible. I've had friends who had c-sections who said they felt that they missed out on their baby's first hours because they were so uncomfortable. That doesn't sound pain free to me! Maybe her baby is breech or her mother had a prolonged delivery with her that ended up with a c-section. Sunnyside up babies run in my family and my husbands family. My SIL and I both had sunnyside up babies. I had the c-section. Incredible pain and nasty scar!

More power to her. I would happily do a C-Section again. The recovery part was a bitch, but worth it.

HAHAHA! Yeah, I had a c-section. I had a comparatively easy recovery, and it was still the most painful few weeks of my life. And I got this lovely scar... have fun, sweetheart!

I would rather go through labor and childbirth than the extended pain of recovering from a c-section. Yeah ... good luck with that.
