I was born and raised in Spain and always - ALWAYS - wore dresses when I was little. I owned pants as well, but given the choice I always picked dresses to wear. Up until I was six and started asking for pants all the time. It wasn't because my parents wanted to brag about me acting like an adult, it wasn't because my parents were overly stiff or formal, it was simply because that was pretty typical and my parents thought I looked cute, I asked for it, and I never complained about it. I never had a problem playing on the playground or roughhousing with the other kids during playtime, we just didn't put that much thought into what I was wearing. As long as I was warm/cool enough and I was comfortable, all was well.

Perhaps people are being just a bit overly judgmental about why they dress her this way?

Suri is always so formally dressed. I think one reason her parents like to brag about her acting like an adult is that they don't let her act like a child.

yeah i always feel sorry for little girls who wear dresses to the playground. the slide just isn't the same

If only I had that kind of money where I didn't care if my daughter only wore a dress once... Still, I can't help but think it looks silly to have a 2-year old in a dress at playground (and what's with T.C.'s sweater - Mr. Rogers much?)
