My husband and I and our two daughters live and work in southern China. We are direct beneficiaries of your foundation. We adopted our little girl January 2007, thanks to you!

Our hearts were just broken of hearing of your great loss of precious Maria. We are praying for all of you, especially your son and all that he is going through right now and wisdom for you as parents in helping him and dealing with your own grief. You have many levels of grief and many hearts that you need to help in that grief within your own family.

This message is for Maria's brother. You are especially in my prayers young man. The enemy would want to destroy you but God has great plans for you as you lift your eyes to Him. Let him wrap His arms around you and carry you as you grieve. No one blames you, only the enemy of your soul. Try to remember that when times are really tough and you feel so very alone. Surround yourself with your family who loves you and let them help you through.

Our prayers are with your family during this difficult time. When I tried to think of a Scripture to encourage you, the one that came to mind was simply, "Jesus wept." What's incredible about his verse is the fact that Jesus wept even when he knew he was going to raise Lazarus from the dead! I believe even now He weeps along with you in your time of terrible loss, even with your beautiful daughter standing there right next to Him. So now is the time of weeping, but may her memories and all we have to look forward to bring you JOY and HOPE and ultimately HEALING! May God be glorified even in your grieving. There are lessons for all of us in the Steven Curtis Chapman double tragedy where the youngest son accidentally kills the youngest daughter. How do you deal with such grief? With faith, hope, love, laughter. Laughter, yes. When they buried Maria Sue, the Chapmans laughed and cried. That explains my essay, which if you wish, you can read here: ‘Good Grief! I am a missionary to China, and when I learned about Maria's death, I broke down in tears. I am so blessed by your love and compassion for the Chinese children. It's a great example for everyone to follow.

Thousands and thousands of people have been blessed by your ministry, Steven. At this point, please know that these same people are blessing you in return with their prayers and intercession as you and your family go through this extremely hurting times of your lives.

Right now I am in extreme pain because of my lower back problem. But thinking of you and your present situation makes me forget all my pain, and I just find myself praying for a double portion of God's peace and comfort for you all. And also, I am praying for supernatural strength and peace to come upon your teen-age boy. You have the whole world praying for you, because you are special. And I believe you will come out of this situation a much better person, one whom our Father in heaven has designed you to be. MAY GOD BLESS YOU MORE ABUNDANTLY and KEEP YOU SAFELY IN HIS LOVING ARMS.

We are so sorry to hear of your loss. I can't imagine what you are going through right now..but remember..God is BIGGER!! His peace is perfect...He is able to bring your family through this difficult time..and He will. He is faithful.

I have grown up listening to your music...your heart for family...and children....has always been evident. Be encouraged that you and your family are being lifted up in prayer daily by people you will never meet until we get to heaven. My husband and I have never met you ...but we have always listened and have been inspired by the words you write and sing...we are deeply saddened by what has happened...and I think I speak for so many when I say it feels like we know you...and we are carrying the grief along with you and your family. Thats the way God intended it to be...when one member hurts...we should all feel it. And we do.

We know that God will reveal himself to you in a deeper way than ever before because He becomes what we need in given circumstances. To the son driving the vehicle, several years ago I was responsible for the loss of life of a member of our church in an accident. My life began to spiral out of control as I blamed myself for his loss...but God! At this fragile time in your life the Word of God is the only thing that can get you through. His Word is truth and we have to believe it now more than ever. Our steps are ordered by God...God will not put on us more than we can bear...I don't know you, but you must be a very strong young man because the Lord is entrusting you with much pain at this young age, but trust me... it is for much gain. Keep your eyes on the Lord He will see you through and use you for His kingdom's sake. The sun will shine again.
