We all needed it. We're of course close, the three of us, but in Paris, and then in the South of France we were inseparable. It was hard to show them my favorite city in just four days

re: An Absolutely Amazing Vacation

Our "vacations" have been in the form of out of town concerts, a night here and there. But we still love it and we're still out of town. Music means a lot to us, so a good concert can feel like days out of town.

We're also taking a vacation at the end of August to Kiawah Island. My mother-in-law has rented a condo for the week so that our family, the in-laws, and my sister-in-law and her husband can have some respite. Kiawah is quiet and unspoiled and it will be great to slow down, build sandcastles with my 2 year old, and have spirited conversation with the family over relaxing meals and cold drinks.

I'm glad you and the kids had such a good time.

Whatever your feelings of your ex-wife, she gave you Ava and Chet and that's worth putting up with all that New Age foolishness. I must admit that whenever I see the pics of your children, especially of the two in front of the Tower Eiffel, I feel a bit jealous inside. You're a lucky man!

I wasn't sure if he would behave well, but he was a little champion, even on the plane. I'm a consultant so I don't get paid when I'm off and we do feel the pinch now, but I so agree with you, you just NEED a vacation, what's life about if you don't have these few weeks of fun and carefreeness?

I should have realized from reading your book that you're quite fluent in French, but somehow it just came to me now... Contente de voir que votre séjour en France a si bien été!... La photo avec les enfants est très belle!
