Get a couple gross of teething rings. Put a bunch in the refrigerator and give one to the wee sprat whenever they exhibit the teething miasma. The cool smushiness worked well for my brood. You do have to hold them for very young ones and you do have to keep grabbing a new cool one out of the Frigidaire, but they seemed to work better than teething jel, motrin or anything else. At least for our gang.

I love when your baby is cranky and everyone says, oh is he teething? Aren't babies always teething?? Your post confirmed my thought! thank you! And I've found nothing works. Those homeopathic tablets are hooey.

I'm all for homeopathy or alterna-treatments if they work. I'm also for baby Motrin though!

Homeopathic teething tablets work as long as you keep believing in them, at which point their performance is exactly like that of sugar pills, because *that's what they are*. There are literally no other ingredients.

Oh, sure, there's other stuff on the label, but it's diluted literally millions or trillions of times. There's almost certainly many times more random impurities (rat droppings, say) in the lactose (i.e. milk sugar) base than any traces of the alleged active ingredients.

The most important point is that homeopathy isn't actually ancient wisdom or nature-medicine with millennia of practical use. It's an early industrial-age theory that competed with the idea that disease might be caused by germs. You'd think that the fact that it turned out to be totally wrong would have been the end of it, but turns out to be a really good way to rip off desperate parents. (And sadly, sometimes really sick people.)

Yey for teething gel! We couldn't have managed without it. Just cut our first two bottom ones this week.
