meeeshelle - I think you've missed the author's point, a bit. Being gay is not "disscusting" (disgusting) and it's not something that we need to not talk about because you're "complety grossed out" (completely)by what other people do and feel in the privacy of their own bedrooms and heads, respectively. You don't get to tell other people what they can feel. That's "called judging in case you didnt realize it." (Your spelling is, frankly, not giving your incoherent arguments any help.)

It's also not something to be treated like a fashion accessory - given the prejudice against gay people in our society. The author is pointing that out.

i totaly dissagree whith this but im straight and i dont think it gives off the wrong impression about being gay and the song isnt trying to say that being gay is ok and cool, its about the person and their decision and i will neverr "kiss a girl and like it" even though i lovee the song, i still think its disscusting.

but i have to say when i first heard this song i got complety grossed out and i couldnt believe they even put it on the radio, but then i found out the singer wasnt gay and she had some really good other songs like "hot n cold" and shes really talented and she writes her own songs, even plays the guitar. but she didnt write i kissed a girl

but what im trying to say is i think you're misstaken about this song and got the wrong impression about it, and its called judging in case you didnt relize it.

Yes, I keep thinking of the Jill Sobule song and wondering how it could be popular with the tween set. I guess that dates me a bit?

I haven't heard this "I Kissed a Girl" yet, one of the perks of living overseas I guess!

Plus it's so braying, musically. It pounds your head in. No one asked her.

And there was a much better song with the same title by Jill Sobule, about fifteen years ago.

I'm so with you on this. It makes sound like she's trying out a new drink at Starbucks. It really is a slap to kids who are trying to come to terms with being gay and it gives people who don't "believe" in being gay ammunition. I have found it really impossible to let my 9 year old listen to the radio lately. So many of the catchy tunes are making serious issues sound trivial. The other day I heard a neighbor kid singing the words to the new popular Kid Rock song. Talk about trashy.
