The Duggers make viewers smile, they are like watching, "It's A Wonderful Life," whereas Jon/Kate

is like watching, "Mommie Dearest."

The Duggers actions and behavior matches their Christian values and beliefs whereas Jon/Kate display contradictions thereof. Always look to the behaviors. The Duggers value their children and Jon/Kate the children are their value.

Hmmmm. Ask yourself a simple question, "If you were flying & in First Class, Michelle Dugger or Kate- next to you? Your choice certainly shouts volumes : do you enjoy peace and a genuinely caring person or one who would want you to move...? Just the facts here. The Lord has his sun shine on both. The Duggers shine brightly for Him!

I have turned off Jon and Kate plus eight because I can't take how she treats her husband. I get the chaos, but she dosn't apologise. I watch it, but usually can't finish it because of her.

I don't watch the Duggars. I find the concept a little freaky too, but you're right, it's their choice, so, whatever. I think Kate is control freakish and she does have a very uptight way of talking to her husbands. It's like going to someone's house while they're in the middle of an argument or something. But being a mom, I am sometimes a little control freakish myself, so I guess I can't blame her. I definitely do think they are using the show to help them financially.

What are your doctors and friends responses when you tell them that you want to try fertility treatment when you are the parent of 4 lovely kids already? I would think that most people who try fertility treatments either have no kids or fewer. Thank you for sharing your personal experience.

I also like the Duggars and don't pick up on a "creepy" vibe from them either. Their lifestyle is totally different from what I'd choose, but I can see the appeal.

I like watching Jon & Kate simply for the 'oh my God, can you imagine having that many preschoolers running around!" factor, but sometimes they make me cringe. They don't seem like particularly *nice* people--but on the other hand, can I say I'd act differently toward my husband if I were under that much stress?

I would never watch this type of crap on TV.

I'm not unfamiliar with religious devotion of Hasidic Jews who also have children until the women can no longer conceive. It keeps my home birth midwife friends very busy in NYC. Families of 10-15 children is normal, and many of these families need all types of government assistance to survive!

What troubles me about all families that expose their children and family on realty TV is the creepiness factor. Parents put the children and family out there for this type of scrutiny purely for financial gain. Well, don't have these many kids if you have no other means of supporting them.

Y'all are definitely right that having sextuplets could make ANYONE frantic and anxious. I would probably be living on valium and whisky if I had eight children under the age of 5. That's definitely a different scenario than one in which parents consciously choose to have a large family, and then spread their kids out over a long period of time.

I haven't seen the Duggars show, but I am familiar with both families. The Duggars have an advantage in that the kids are such a large age range that the older ones can help out with the younger. I undertand they have a "buddy" system where each older kid is paired with one or two younger ones and helps them throughout the day. Jon and Kate don't have that advantage. I think that's important to keep in mind when comparing the two...

I don't watch either show regularly enough to have a preference, but I totally agree with you on your last point. Women should have absolute right over their reproductive choices, whatever they are.

I think the difference lies in the choices. Fertility treatments aside, Jon and Kate really didn't want 6 children at once. I think they're more like a normal couple who had an abnormal situation thrust upon them and the chaos and anxiety you sense is them trying to deal with it. I have to admit though, I find the Duggars a bit creepy. I just keep wanting one of them to rebel or something.

I absolutely cannot stand the way Kate treats her husband. That's what I think it is.
