I'm with you on choosing the battles... my 15 yr old is getting blue streaks in her hair next week (today is their last day of school, and she's in the school play through the weekend, so had to wait til that finishes...) why blue? why, that's the color of ear bonnet and jeweled browband her jumper wears, of course. :)

I really enjoyed this post for no particular reason other than your happiness is contagious.

And you made me tear up about the whole picking your child up for the last time bit. I do think about that often now that my 21 month old boy often would rather run, tumble, jump or roll places rather than have me carry him. He's my first and I plan to have more but I am in no rush for him to grow out of being my baby. (and he's still on the bottle too -- I'm interested in what your thoughts are on that b/c I too am starting to get the disapproving looks. If it were just as simple as handing him a sippy cup I would do it! Geez!)

lol of course J loved NYC! It's the place to be if you are a fashion maven (spelling of maven?). I am missing my own 17 yr old this week as she is off at college orientation. I cannot imagine what I will do in August when she is living on campus! And, my future 9th grader is away in AZ on a mission trip also doing some face painting. lol! I am feeling a little empty nest-ish.

My daughter has lived and worked in Manhattan for the past 6 years. She left a teaching career after two years because NYC was where she was meant to be. Sound familiar? She's just fine, loves her job and loves the city. If someone had told me when she was a freshman in HS this is where she'd end up, I'd have said absolutely NO WAY!! And if someone had told me I'd be visiting NYC 4-5-6 times a year, I'd have said, you're crazy. :) Ya just never know. :)
