My husband has the culinary chops in our house. I'm more of a side dish-maker and baker, and creator of the occasional huge vat of soup. When it comes to Axel's food, I've become the head chef. Maybe it's because I'm already a milk-making machine, so, while Sean's feeding the grown-ups, baby feeding duty falls to me. So, I make much of his food, and I love it. That's because it's pretty easy - it's hard to mess up peach puree. There's no hacking up a piece of chicken to make sure it's really, truly cooked through - or having to touch slimy, cold raw chicken in the first place. There's no spattering oil or three-page recipe to follow. Just rinse, chop, steam, and whir, and you've got jars full of good mush. That's the sort of cooking I can handle.
Plain soy yogurt is Axel's first, great food love. Yes, he's eating again, though he much prefers to dine in his own personal restaurant with a parent or two to fetch errant spoons than among the baby hordes at daycare. When he won't take a bit of anything else, he'll still slurp soy yogurt off the spoon. Sweet potatoes are usually acceptable, along with spinach and most fruits.
