I craved jalapenos too... on nachos with fake cheese. And out she came a girl! I think its fun you guys aren't finding out. I'm too much of a control freak not to know, but I think its fun nontheless! Found your blog randomly from a link on another blog! How fun! After finding out we were having a son, I went blue/football/train crazy, had a very serious fight with my husband about what the best name for our son would be, and got his name monogrammed on every kind of baby product under the son. When I gave birth to a happy, healthy baby girl last month, I almost had a stroke - not because of how gorgeous she was (and she was/is VERY gorgeous) but because of all the expensive garbage I had laying around my house that was now completely useless. So you can end up surprised even if you do find out!

Yeah, I've heard about the dream thing too and when I was pregnant I hada dream that my baby had a penis. My whole pregnancy I was convinced that the Little Monster was a boy. So convinced, in fact, that we all forgot to ask the sex after the baby was born for about a minute or two....it was a girl.

Also, not trying to be obnoxious here, but if you are waiting to find out the "gender" of the baby it'll be awhile. The "sex" you should find out as soon as it's born. Sex is a biological category. Gender is a social identity. Sorry, old women's studies major habits die hard.

i had a dream it was a girl... and then later it turned out it was a boy. (i kind of thought it was a boy all along, but his father was sure it was a boy from the moment we found out... and i could never tell if i was just brainwashed by his certainty or not.) a relative and two friends of mine also had dreams that i was having a girl, but nope. so i'm not sure about the dream theory. intuition, yes. dreams, maybe not.

my mom (and grandmother) both say i am carrying "in the back" so it's a boy. in the back? how exactly does one carry that way?

Actually, a study found that dreams and intuition do have a high rate of accuracy: web.arizona.edu/.../intuit.htm

With both of mine, I dreamed about baby girls, and I was right both times. Same thing happened to my sister-in-law. My OB believes strongly that mother's dreams can foretell the gender of the baby, because she's seen it happen so many times.

All those wives tales can go either way, depending on the person. The only one I advocate is the dreams. I believe that if you dreamt it was a girl, it's a girl. That's what I'm putting my money on.

Here's one that works: 19 boys in a row in your husband's family means it's a boy. And it was. Adam was number 20.

Heartrate schmeartrate. One girl, two boys, all 145. Low schmlow. High was a girl, medium was boy number one, low is boy number two. Sickness schmickness. No sickness with the girl, mediocre with boy one and DEATH BY MORNING SICKNESS with boy number two.

It's all a crap shoot. ;)

I heard all of those, too! We didn't find out either with ours, but somehow I felt like I just knew it was a girl all along. Of course, the week before she was born we hadn't picked out any boy names at all, so we were sort of scrambling!

Be prepared for an avalanche of green and yellow onesies, though. Everything we got before the baby came was GREEN! or YELLOW! So I suppose it was a good thing we went with a sort of jungle-themed nursery. Then my mom stepped up and sent us a whole bunch of red and black things, which was just awesome.
